I also find it frustrating that it is frequently the same group of white people (some of whom I really like!) that get repeatedly and frequently held up as experts on this show and others of its type and I… know or have seen too much to put a lot of stock in their expertise

I didn’t realize that there is greater diversity among the hosts (just assumed from what I did know, which is my bad). Totally agreed re: the show overall, and this particular panel of guests got me for a lot of reasons. I know damn well that some of those people know better (in theory).

many of you absolutely do not practice what you preach and if someone points it out you get really upset. now, thats a you problem, but you also routinely make it other people’s problem. that’s what really gets me about this cycle.

Someone being popular does not mean they are someone who treats others with kindness and dignity. There are many, many times I wish people in this space were better about understanding that and clocking patterns that are evident if you pay attention.

I know or am familiar with a lot of people in the tabletop rpg space. The people I trust in the space are far fewer in number. Every hobby, art form, or group has issues, but I’ve watched these particular issues play out from a distance and up close over many years and the patterns are depressing.

A someone who has written extensively about the eugenic roots that permeates those who claim to be building so-called artificial general intelligence, I'm here to tell you to please NOT compare criticism against corporations claiming to build a machine god, with eugenics. The audacity.

if you're writing a sentence that sounds like eugenics but you go "oh that's fine to say because it's not a real person" (whatever that means) you may want to consider what made you okay with saying that.

His appeal is denied. He will remain permanently banned on BlueSky’s side.

I’m too antizionist and too immunocompromised for every shul that I could have conceivably attended services at in person and too tired to organize something myself and too raw about the fact that many people are doing the opposite of teshuvah right now to muster the capacity this year.

I’m gonna be so real with you, I have no idea how to observe Yom Kippur this year. it is usually one of the most meaningful days of the year for me and this year it feels impossible for me to observe in any of the usual ways. I’m usually good at making a way out of difficulty but this year I’m not.
