I don’t believe they do - that was my thought too - but if something isn’t in resus council guidelines it is difficult for care providers to introduce de novo

Does anyone know of any modifications to first-aid guidelines for choking patients who are bariatric and bed-bound? Someone asked me and I have no clue…. Prevention (SALT assessment + staff training) likely best option…. Upward thrust on epigastrium from the front (cf Heimlich from behind)?

Starmer’s immigration focus is the dumbest, stupidest piece of political manoeuvring I’ve seen in a long time. His rhetoric is going to split his coalition and whatever he promises will only drive the racists to demand more. You can’t placate them. It’s a losing strategy.

I needed a GP appointment for next week 3 weeks ago.
I couldn’t possibly make it then.
So I have to call on a Tuesday to request one for next week.
I’m currently 27th in the queue.

I’m a doctor, and even I can barely navigate this overburdened system.

What chance do patients have?

In 1916 the BMJ published an article about the work done by James Shearer, an American physician working in the British Army as a sergeant (because he had no British qualification). He had described a
"delineator" which was better than x rays for portraying gunshot wounds. This caused a sensation and a lot of interest — but on investigation the work was found to have been invented. The BMJ published a retraction, but Shearer was tried by court martial and sentenced to death by firing squad.

It is a HELICO-PTER (spinning wing), not HELI-COPTER. People say “heli” and I always want to correct them and say “helico” but that’s why my therapist said I don’t have friends
