The US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is looking increasingly fragile after Israel shot several people today and US President Donald Trump raised the prospect of further violence.
Trump threatens to disarm Hamas ‘quickly and perhaps violently’ as ceasefire wobbles

The living Israeli hostages have been released as part of a ceasefire deal that also saw about 2000 Palestinian prisoners freed.

Wait, but why are the Israelis “hostages” and the Palestinians “prisoners”?

In today’s video, that’s the question we’re exploring:

"a test"? you mean...a violation?

That’s really cool, is it a chemical, electronic or structural change that takes place?

Next time an institution tells you how seriously it takes research misconduct, ask them if it's *this* seriously. www.bmj.com/content/297/...
In 1916 the BMJ published an article about the work done by James Shearer, an American physician working in the British Army as a sergeant (because he had no British qualification). He had described a
"delineator" which was better than x rays for portraying gunshot wounds. This caused a sensation and a lot of interest — but on investigation the work was found to have been invented. The BMJ published a retraction, but Shearer was tried by court martial and sentenced to death by firing squad.

In the Asian protests, we’ve seen protesters placing cones over smoke grenades to minimize dispersion. Does that work?

There's something so heart-rendingly touching about the persistent faith many people have that the market will finally solve the problem of climate change. Like a smoker with cancer thinking maybe one more cigarette will cure it.

I agree it’s not a full solution, but it beats looking at derivatives and amalgamations of f($papers_published,$impact_factor, $times_cited,$grants_obtained) = quantified_research_quality.

In REF, I appreciate the papers are read, and that it’s forcing a shift to fewer, more thoughtful papers.

Yep, that’s the issue. And apparently it’s not universally known what letter “whiskey” starts with 😅

I use the nautical one as my last name is apparently hard to spell for Germans. However, I wish more telephone operators and desk staff knew it as well so we could communicate faster with it.

Much of the territory has been reduced to rubble and its infrastructure destroyed by Israeli aerial bombardments.

i feel this sentiment deeply so i need my mutuals to understand that of the 24 men tried at nuremberg half were acquitted, and at subsequent trials not on the national stage nearly every nazi tried was found not guilty and many went straight back to work in the government, they died old and rich.

We will need Nuremberg-like trials

ICE secretly kidnap autistic boy during bathroom break—never notify parents.

Mother reported him missing a week ago—turns out ICE had him detained the whole time.

He was helping sell fruit and asked to go to the restroom—by the time she was done helping a customer he was gone.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’

Israel detonating remote controlled bombs in busy spaces is genocidal terrorism. I’m appalled at the German government still supporting Netanyahu’s lunatic regime.

We call for an immediate halt to the violence and concrete measures to protect civilians. Israeli authorities must ensure safe access to humanitarian aid.
