Science, sailing, sea and scattering (X-ray flavor). Against genocide in any form. Opinions are mine.

We live to grow.

Could be. But in the countries where we lived, my then native colleagues also had no idea about what the process in their countries were and what hurdles are in the way. I don’t expect politicians to know better.

“Tough on immigration” seems to be the battle cry. I’ve migrated a few times (EU citizen, white) with my non-EU partner. I don’t think politicians know: 1) the benefits immigrants bring to the economy and society and 2) how hard it is already to migrate and work, even with privilege.

Yes, the rot is spreading. The Dutch, Danish and German politicians, to name a few, are also adopting right policies in the hopes of somehow snapping up a few right voters while not alienating their main base. Doesn’t seem to be an effective strategy either.

So, healthy kids are on fewer meds.

But it took me a while to figure out and the graph didn’t help.

Maybe the WSJ needs to stay off the drugs for a while.

But as far as I can gather it’s not as shocking a graph as it pretends to be. For kids that were on ADHD medicine in 2019, many now (2023) are on 2, 3, 4, etc types of medicine.
For kids that weren’t on ADHD medicine in 2019, not so many.

Also why I’ve started using “we” in my papers. If we abstract the scientist out of the equation, we ignore an important variable.
