of course, science says no such thing: every biologist I know who isn't a bigot knows sex is phenomenally complicated in the non-human world. Human sex is complicated too, but with the added fun of culture, which defines what our sex *means*.

in fact, I'm pretty sure the first people I ran across who opposed gender diversity (and griped about "feminists with blue hair") were militant atheist skeptics

not to mention the fucking professional atheist scientists who provide the entire foundation for anti-trans bigotry by saying "science PROVES there are only two sexes!"

May their underpants never be dry again.

I guess some other time we can talk about the reactionary professional atheists who literally built the secular foundation for today’s anti-DEI arguments

I have fond memories of Maley being astonished that the IFLS founder was a woman, because she could not conceive of a woman being a scientist.

So now the Administration are saying that the mass firing of CDC scientists, including many responsible for preventing outbreaks, was an “error” and many will be brought back.

Whether by intention or incompetence, dismantling public health will kill people.

This is social. As someone who was in the audience when someone threw shoes at our former pm and found it shocking, it’s deeply ingrained and you know my brain works the same way

If your organization supports the use of force to accomplish regime change and is openly talking about the trillions in investment opportunity in a country you want to lead, you’re a problematic Nobel Peace Prize winner. You’re not Desmond Tutu or Nelson Mandela.

We are very privileged and conditioned in that way; which is normally a good thing. But now we have to step up and it’s terrifying

Marvellous Minoan clay vessels made by creative potters on the island of Crete during the Aegean Bronze Age around 3,500 years ago! 🤩

Heraklion Archaeological Museum 📷 by me

From the Aegean Bronze Age, Minoan clay vessels with black handpainted decoration.on a pale biscuity-coloured slip

Top left - clay flask decorated in Minoan ‘Marine Style’’ with an octopus with tentacles writhing around the body of the vase. Additional motifs such as seaweed and rocks represent the seabed. From Palaikastro, 1500-1450 BC

Top right - clay rhyton in the shape of a bull’s head. A rhyton is a type of pouring vessel used for filling cups or making liquid offerings. There is a pouring hole at the bull’s mouth. From Knossos Little Palace, 1450-1375 BC

Bottom left - Nautilus vessel - clay rhyton depicting the seabed with nautili, corals and seaweed. From Phaistos Palace, 1500-1450 BC

Bottom right - Basket shaped rhyton decorated with double-axe motif. There is a small pouring hole in one of the bottom corners. From Pseira, 1500-1450 BC
