I listened to today's proceedings and Oregon sounded great, DOJ sounded terrible. At one point the judge had to step in and show the DOJ lawyers how to establish foundation. Then the DOJ lawyers were out of control and the judge had to rein them in and ask them to pick one and let that one lead

We made a strong case for why Guard deployment is unlawful, unnecessary, and should be permanently stopped. We expect a ruling likely on Sunday.

Law enforcement witnesses described “startling” excessive force from federal agents that interfered with Portland Police Bureau’s ability to manage protests. Two agents from the federal government – the most knowledgeable about the situation at the ICE building before deployment – did not request deployment and were not consulted.

The Ninth Circuit also issued an order yesterday maintaining status quo (in which Guard is federalized but cannot be deployed) until further order of that court.

The district court judge indicated
that her goal is to issue a decision
by sometime Sunday, before the
second TRO expires at 11:59pm.

The Ninth Circuit has yet to set
a date to rehear the case en banc.
They are likely waiting to see how
the district court rules.

The Senate voted 21-16 for the amendment, after the House took action this week.

Things that absolutely astound me:
1) That trump thinks the Montreal Cognitive Assessment is an IQ test. (It’s not, it’s a test for dementia)
2) That no one in his administration will correct him
3) That most of his supporters are unaware of #1, because no major news outlet will dare point it out
