From my favourite Lucille Clifton poem:

"come celebrate

with me that everyday

something has tried to kill me

and has failed."

won’t you celebrate with me by LUCILLE CLIFTON
A short but exceedingly powerful poem

Politicians seems to be a bit broad, ever encompassing the both sides narrative that perpetuates the problems

Damn- I somehow missed the Amherst date

Saw the film years ago- will need to check out the soundtrack because his album Talking Timbuktu with Ali Farka Touré is one of my favorites. I cannot believe it was released over 30 years ago

I don’t want to post anything on X about the Homeland Security account — they’re deliberately quoting critics and knowingly unleashing a fascist shitstorm on them.

And I’m very used to fascist shitstorms. That says a lot.

Unfortunate but unsurprising update from the Homeland Security Twitter account.

Interesting in light of today’s leaked Young Republicans’ racist chat news that DHS isn’t even bothering to hide it anymore.

I love when the weather turns chilly enough ito wear my Lauren Good Day jacket. Support Native designers, Native-owned businesses, and of course, Native journalists.

I lived at an apartment at The Amherst Motel for years and would try to find a local family run though they are getting harder to find and might require stating outside the city

The Bob Cesca Show 10/14/25
Waxy and Damp — Good day, and welcome to Day 14 of the government shutdown. The latest frustrating YouGov poll on the shutdown. The myth of Republicans and the economy. 1,300 CDC employees we…

I had an issue with the opening salvo of his text being an attack on Dems when asking for financial support and closing with 'In solidarity '
I get the "The Dems were mean to me so I had to..." vibe
Hope i am wrong if he does win

That being written, i think she knows she is not getting pardoned but Trump's DoJ has significantly reduced the restrictions of her incarceration which is as much as she can hope for at this point
djohnrowins.bsky.social
I dont see him doing more than perpetually dangling the possibility because he's all about self preservation and knows a pardon would not play well

Reminded of protestors ( forget the nation) who once held up mirrors to the police - of course that wouldn't work with thugs proud of their actions

I wrote “Some Zombie Contingency Plans” on a plane on the way to a workshop. Got off the plane, looked up the nearest Kinko’s & printed it out.

We should all tell our stories like this...mine is "the time I totally forgot about an essay and cranked out a paper on Deleuze & Guattari's Anti-Oedipus in two hours and ended up winning an award for it"

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

Among the most hideous & ubiquitous historical fables taught in this country are about the “discovery” of America and the “settling” of North America by pioneers. But there’s even more.

This Indigenous People’s Day,decide to learn.Ned Blackhawk & @rebeccanagle.bsky.social’s works are extraordinary.

I had memorized 7812912 and for years wondered what it was
Too few digits for phone number
I thought an old babk account
Thrn one day coworker mentioned his school ID and the disappointing recollection it was my UMass student number from 1981
djohnrowins.bsky.social
My son once asked for his stepmom's number in Kenya
I reeled off "01125471*3**6*9."
He asked, 'How did you do that?"
"That's what we did. If you lost your phone you would all be lost."
7 years since she passed but i still know that number

Don't forget that this weekend is a 15% discount sale on all yarns. That should off-set some of the tariffs if your orders are over $100 in the US (and remember that orders under that will be sent as gifts so you can be tariff free).

Spread this around. Missouri and Ohio Democrats need at least 100,000 valid signatures to take on Republican gerrymandering maps. This is the fight 🔥
demguardrails.bsky.social
MO & OH Dems need us to help Rally support!

A commissioned poll shows nearly 1/2 of MO voters oppose the maps

The Dem committee needs over 100,000 valid signatures across multiple congressional districts before the state’s 90-day window expires on Dec. 11 to let voters decide on the maps.
Missouri Democrats have an opportunity to block a new congressional map. They say they’re largely on their own.
Despite relatively little investment from Washington, Missouri and Ohio Democrats are looking to block new Republican-drawn maps through uncertain avenues.
