Interested in higher education data and student services, as well as a few other things. Mostly here to lurk.
Fond memories of this site. When I worked at UEL my eldest was a tiny baby and she's at Uni now.
Here's a #HigherEducationPostcard of the West Ham Technical Institute, which is now the Stratford Campus of the University of East London

And it has the most fabulous tiles inside!

Really striking how small this British 'super university' will be. Compare it to some provincial European university like Padua and you can't but be a little thoughtful.

The University of Greenwich and the University of Kent are moving together into a single governance structure. Mark Leach and David Kernohan report on the sector's first "super university"

This is true, but I think (and it follows from a point @timclare.bsky.social makes upthread) that co-operative games require less co-operation than competitive ones. That's certainly why I used to seek them out for my kids.
The distinction is a false one. All games are cooperative. The very act of agreeing to & honouring rules, & the deeper compact, of temporarily engaging in the roleplay that the drama taking place on the table is *important* - this is a fundamentally cooperative enterprise.

Every word of this. Not just in NHS contexts either.
This piece on govt ambitions for data and the NHS is good, and quotes some great people, but misses out one critical thing: the necessarily uniform changes to working practices that would be needed to make this viable on.ft.com/3F8Qh8o
Patient data could power the NHS. Much of it is still stuck on paper
The UK wants a technological revolution in healthcare but complex information systems will make that hard to deliver

Pretty boring set of choices, in retrospect...

On this day in 1942, the Nazis invaded Winnipeg in Canada.

At 6 am, the air raid sirens blasted, and local troops took up their positions around the city, but they were soon overwhelmed as the German forces stormed into town in armoured vehicles while the Luftwaffe flew overhead.

Most of Britain won't be taking any lessons in British values from Trump/Vance

It is a British value to oppose dictators in Europe, not to reward them.

It is a British value to accept it if you lose. To turn up & congratulate the winner, not to sulk + incite violence to try to overturn democracy
