I cannot see how a police chief remains standing after at least nine of their officers are arrested for allegedly being involved in some of the city's most frightening violence, some allegedly directed at other members of their staff.
I was just reminded that 2 years ago I wrote about the Toronto Police, union and chief, fear mongering in an effort to intimidate mayor and council to increase their budget (it worked).

i want this for canada too, and it will only come through dependable public funding of journalism along the lines that exist in some european (particularly nordic) countries.

we need to stop letting conservatives and old-guard figures who arose in a different era try to discredit public funding.
I want smaller newspapers with actual fact-based reporting made by people who are paid more to work less and I'm not kidding.

It's gaslighting and basically implies reporters are liars at a time when press freedom is already under attack. #journalism
The City of Vancouver continues to deny there was a media exclusion zone during the April 2023 Hastings decampment.

I witnessed this, I made video showing how media were excluded (in this story: thetyee.ca/News/2023/11...) & now a BCHRC report has confirmed there was an exclusion zone.
