Get fired up with this tasty @tinavasquez.bsky.social feature from our archives about a new era for Latino cookbooks!

A New Era for Latino Cookbooks
Latino cookbooks written by Latino people used to be an anomaly, but with the publication of “SalviSoul” and “Bodega Bakes,” the canon is expanding even further.

Breaking: Spain brings masks back.

Mandatory in hospitals, primary care, and long-term care—for patients, visitors, and staff.
Strong recommendation everywhere else.
Public health moving where evidence points.

Note: Really worth upgrading to respirators.

completely smitten with these
This is one of my favourite paintings; it’s by the Irish artist Gerard Dillon (1916-1971) & is called The Moon over the Bog. Dillon was groundbreaking as an Irish painter in depicting scenes from his gay experience when even being gay was a crime in the country at the time.

The Tasselled Wobbegong is a master of disguise that can eat a fish almost as big as itself in one gulp. It's classified as a shark, but when it lays on the sea floor it looks like a harmless rug if you manage to see it. But with powerful jaws and sharp teeth they are no fish to mess with.

With the new SMART train extension I can now take my bike & public transit from Alameda to Windsor.

I rolled in on a very cold recent Sunday and found a very cozy downtown — with 225 Christmas trees and a grocery store that has a happy hour.

Trains have returned to this North Bay town. Now is the perfect time to visit
This Bay Area town channeled English beauty and housed German POWs. Right now it’s full of holiday charm and accessible by train for the first time in 67 years.

One of my neighbors has been putting up these fish facts posters. All kinds of different fish, marine, freshwater, deep, shallow, all kinds. This is a good one. “Stg this real fish” took me out. Good work, neighbor.

Joshua Tree National Park

Enjoy the day and week. I am heading back to Joshua Tree National Park.

Let the desert’s quiet hold you.
Its textures reveal stories etched in time.
Silence lives with promise.
Nature uplifts through presence alone.

this is it!!
the “thanksgiving food is bad” discourse raises its ugly head every year, but the truth remains that thanksgiving food can be amazing as long as you know how to cook. the problem is we’re throwing a few million sunday drivers directly into a grand prix
I think this is unfair to turkey. turkey is good but hard to cook well because it is so damn big. turkey *parts* are great but lack the esthetic appeal of a centerpiece bird.
