In 2025 things bent but we held

Their open embrace of fascism and Nazism now binds us to the old revolutionary character of liberalism. From the picket lines to battlefields that your parents and grandparents sacrificed on.

We can't go back to the old republic . . . let's make a path forward.

Reading @ariberman.bsky.social's Give Us the Ballot, I was struck by how much Voting Rights Act jurisprudence boiled down to the Court trying to force single-seat districts to behave like proportional representation. Just do PR already! www.liberalcurrents.com/the-american...

Jeffries should hire a crew to go there and take it down. He has just as much right to change the name as the Board (Trump) does.
Rep. Jeffries signaled it is illegal for Trump to rename the Kennedy Center without “legislative action.”

“The Kennedy Center Board has no authority to actually rename the Kennedy Center in the absence of legislative action."

Given the collapse in ticket sales and abysmal programming the Trumpified version has so far elicited, it seems like there's less of a need to call it anything
DC residents have been refusing to call that airport anything but National for almost thirty years, we certainly can refuse to call that arts center anything but the Kennedy Center for three

Rick Steves is a mensch, no question, and I get the feels from acts of generosity and compassion like this. But it would be better to live under a government that provides bare subsistence to those in need. Until then, I'm grateful for the Rick Steves of the world.
It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

This kind of hyper-masculine, sexualized violence is a common feature of modern far-right politics. I wrote about it earlier this year for @liberalcurrents.com

People are making this about trashiness, but it’s really about violence.

A UFC fight at the White House to mark our 250th would tidily symbolize the passing of the republic to a brutish state, a bloodthirsty society headed by a fascist movement.

So many have sold their souls for MAGA. They will all end up like Stefanik or worse. All of them.
Here we go. Elise Stefanik changed everything she was, everything she believed in, for power. And in the end, Trump endorsed another dude and Elise is out.
