Again I really do not know why we keep telling people to move from California to Wyoming when we could be telling people to move from Alabama to Pennsylvania or North Carolina
I can’t uproot my entire life to move to a blue state so instead you should uproot your entire life and make your life materially worse so I don’t have to do anything.

Will this ever happen?
Have been a couple times where Monmouth and Hunterdon have been tantalizingly close only to continue being red.

Yup, similar to Houston, my commute ranges from 45 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes depending on traffic.

And before someone says it, Im trying to move out of the suburbs, I need to find a job first though.
If you think this is an unrealistic commute for DFW, here’s one my old manager who moved to DFW from Iowa does every single day

A lot of flaws to this thinking, but my heuristic of Dems' overperformance in special election depending on its national attention are based on the FL specials.

FL-06 received national attention and the Dem overperformed by 16 pts.
FL-01 received no nat attn and the D overperformed by 22 pts.

Very surprised at this as he was almost certainly safe in both the primary and general election (Trump+22 seat).

Even by the standards of the GOP, was one of Trump’s most sycophantic member of Congress.

JD Vance's ideal America is a place with half the GDP where everyone with potential and options gets the fuck out, a shithole that people from countries with actual dynamism visit to watch chintzy 'traditional' dances before going home.

The left doesn't talk about it a lot because the right has spent years doing deficit hawk bullshit under much better fiscal circumstances but one look at any projection of America's fiscal future will turn you into John Boehner. Eventually the world will stop needing or wanting American debt

I don't think we'll get to that point, but do wonder if we get to a point where the NC map becomes a dummymander where potentially all 14 of them could go blue.
I'm still *somewhat* confident that the balkanized US media landscape combined with Trump's personality cult mean we probably won't truly see the bottom get knocked out, but this is wild. Like this is 'not even the most insane gerrymanders imaginable will save your asses in the midterms' shit.

Every time I read an FDR speech it breaks my heart to see someone who assumes his audience is actually capable of understanding complex ideas and interested in learning more.
We have got to make politics intellectual again. It is the only way that societies thrive is when politicians have the capability to actually think and reflect deeply:

Maybe if the AI bubble bursts within the next 2-3 years?
look, I’ve been operating on the assumption that we cannot reach Bush 2 numbers because the media environment makes the floor much higher than it was back then (and Fox won’t throw him overboard the same way)

but, uh, we aren’t through year one and…

Mohammed Ibrahim, the 16 year old Palestinian American child held hostage by the Israeli occupation's jail system without charge for nine months, was released yesterday on Thanksgiving morning.

The Ibrahim family credited Senator Chris Van Hollen as the chief reason for his release.

Advocates say the 16-year-old's health had been in decline since his arrest in February for allegedly throwing rocks.

Its insane that this is what the Albuquerque City Council Map looks like under 2024 Prez shading, but Dems only have a 5-4 majority.
They really should add partisan labels if they wanted to wipe out the local Republicans.

Kinda surprised at the difference between lesbians and gay men here. Is it just an income difference?

Also knew Montrose would be here, didnt think the Heights would also have a comparable amount to Montrose.

Isnt the answer mainly housing prices and utility rates going up and up, outpacing real wages?

(Not a policy expert of any kind, just what comes to mind).
Explain to me how things have become less affordable as real wages climb. Compared to when?

Im fine with campaign accounts doing a cringe meme every now and then, but never ever want to see official government accounts post anything other than official statements or resources related to their office for the rest of my life.

Checking back on the left map, Sherrill won every district except Districts 4 and 6.
Biden only lost District 4

In general, she did match Biden pretty closely, although it looks like she did slightly better than him with nonwhites, and slightly worse among some whites?
