I'm addicted to blackpills so I looked up what the insurance rate for a ~30yo would be for my parents' car, and then I asked them what theirs is, and sure enough, it's double that.

>the US poverty rate is measured by wrong metrics and leads to a massive undercount
Sure
>so much so that things are worse than in China
Lol, lmao, hell no
graph crime aside, i'm super curious about who this 1% of Americans that are supposedly living on <$3 a day; that's over three million people

are we counting prisoners or something?

Yeah, it's The Long Walk. I know it's an allegory for war, but I think it's more specifically an allegory for certain grand retreats, mostly from Russia, but there's no specific catastrophe one could pinpoint.

How not to start an official university email:

(translates to:
"Dear Student,

Only a Christmas miracle could save your semester?")

BABBDI by @leonardlemaitre.bsky.social & @siriuslemaitre.bsky.social is a surprising, atmospheric, free exploration game. I can't remember the last time a game gave me goosebumps this many times. You can't even die in it! And yet... there's a secret sauce to it.

Heavily recommended!

Oh my God... please, just read this. It's short, and it will make your head spin. Oh dear. It put everything in a new, harrowing perspective.

The horse girl ads on Youtube and Steam banning Horses are two sides of the same coin. Thing is, there's no policy that thinks of every way users may be malicious. So you can't have solid, strict policies because then malicious actors will toe the line in a way that you'll still want to ban.

I have a gut feeling this is at least partially the work of people who see what happened to society in Russia because of the war and like it and want it for the US, without understanding how that works and how it's been brought about. I wonder if they've thought it through. I hope I'm wrong.
Really looks like the United States is about to launch a regime change war against Venezuela with:

-No casus belli
-No authorization from Congress
-No allies or international support
-No plan for a post-Maduro Venezuela
-No preparation for any sort of stabilization or containment of the fallout

I couldn't find this specific snippet in the gif keyboard but I feel it would be so appropriate in so many contexts. So here it is.

Their safety net is their parents. This will result in more nannyism, which is the preferred and revealed outcome of many a Western voter.
It would honestly be extremely funny to see what happens if America hits EU levels of youth unemployment but without the safety net
GOLDMAN has some tough words about the young college-grad unemployment rate rising to 8.5%. 👀

“.. A further deterioration in employment opportunities .. perhaps reflecting AI and other efficiency-enhancing measures .. could have a disproportionate negative impact on consumer spending ..”

Glimpsed over a classmate's screen in class and wondered what exotic LLM he was prompting. I couldn't for the life of me recognize the UI. Was it a local client? Some corporate AI solution?

Friends... he was reading an article.

You do not need to "be nicer to men". I do not think this is ever even implied to be desired by the men these people claim to talk about. This attitude is in fact part of the problem. Stop posting this shit.

Back in the early 2010s, a classmate of mine was visiting London. Smartphones were a thing then already, but he had an old dumbphone. As he walked into a crowd, he suddenly saw his own phone flying towards him.

Anyway, I'm not buying anything fancier than a Samsung Galaxy A-series ever again.

also the self-censorship people on here just sound Iike naive children to me

you can in fact viciously and highly effective criticize evil people without giving them needless points of vulnerability to get you back with

One of the perks of getting older was getting very into @redlettermedia.com They proved to me that talkshows aren't actually bad (it's just that 99.9% of them are painfully unfunny). I'm unironically enjoying @noiselund.bsky.social songs remixed from their show now, too. Like this one:
