In Germany, a standard 7kW rooftop solar system costs $10,000.

In Australia, it costs $4,000.

In the US, the same system costs about $28,000 — thanks partly to a mess of state, local, and HOA rules, per a new analysis shared with @alexckaufman.bsky.social:

I am, quite frankly, surprised at the lack of gold leaf in the White House's rendering.

“We are not living in a functional democracy any longer.” - Sen. Chris Murphy, via @hcrichardson.bsky.social:
Ok, this one made me laugh bc I've lived it, but it's usually bc it takes a few times of fixing something out of place to realize that's what's going on. 😂
My spouse used to think I was silly to carry a huge purse. I explained that women's clothing rarely has much in the way of pockets. But sure, I was carrying much more than he was, but he didn't seem to mind when he needed an aspirin, tissue, pen, measuring tape, etc.

That was an ah-ha moment.
Many are socialized to expect female partners to be maid & secretary. Not just housework. Office manager stuff like making appointments, keeping the calendar & contacts, tracking inventory, making purchases, doing social outreach. This costs time & mental energy.

Moskowitz: We need $30 billion to extend, obviously, these healthcare subsidies, which allow Americans—Americans, not illegal—Americans, citizens, to afford healthcare.

And the president’s like, “We don’t have $30 billion, but I am going to send $40 billion to my dear friend in Argentina.”
I mean, there were millions of us out there...

Frogs in slowly heating water is a popular allegory for being unaware that you are being destroyed in an incrementally worsening situation.

But I'm drawing hope from the past week that we frogs may be a bit more aware of our situation than those allegorical frogs. #Hop
The judge said anyone with daughters in college would find the crime horrifying. Apparently, sympathy requires knowing someone like the victim.

Then he sentenced the rapist to less than the prosecutor's recommendation. Yeah, those daughters didn't really help.

Here's a gift link to the New York Times' coverage of the initial Tea Party rallies in April 2009 which inspired the media to treat it like a massive movement.

Check out how tiny the crowds were:

Philly: 200
DC: "several hundred"
Boston: 500
Austin: 1,000

You may be living in an absolutely racist country when 13-year-old Black boys are tried and sentenced as adults, but white dudes who *are* adults are called "kids" by JD Vance to shield them from culpability.
