this is why i could not bring myself to act like the steam machine was going to Save Gaming. valve does not give AF abt games as an artistic space (theyve straight up said as much) and everyone happily lapping up the monopoly theyve established really fuckin irks me

i am going completely insane watching gamers make up shit about horses and interrogating every single thing the devs have said for inconsistencies and then deciding well it probably had cp in it. this is the easy mode version of the kinds of censorship that are to come and you're failing like babies

i dont know how to tell people that the social stigma of being disabled is not worth pretending to be so for accomodations. like. at all. People do not do this because being disabled is a social death sentence
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

Existing disability services are deeply underfunded, aggressively audited, means-tested constantly, and can be labyrinthine to even access or maintain without assistance. As someone who spent two decades as a cog in that system, concerns about fraud are overblown compared to the real existing need.
