fine, except you need a language to refer to these kids so she ends up calling them "unhappy children", which is wholly inadequate to capture the experience of the most unwell. We're in danger of losing terms to communicate that experience.

I demanded that my child push through anxiety, on the advice of a counsellor and a CP. Hd became severely unwell has struggled to attend any provision since - that was 8 years ago. Naomi Fisher's problem is that she didn't like school herself. She also doesn't like psychiatric diagnoses, which is /1

epilepsy. No reply... I'd also add that simply "taking control" and saying no when autistic children are in a state of distress is, in my personal experience, dangerous. But the MH professionals don't have to manage the years of mental illness that follow, do they?

There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

Ok, did not expect “The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe” to feel quite so relevant to this moment.

Here’s Edmund, deciding to side with the leader who he’s been told disappears people.

He did want Turkish Delight and to be a prince (and later a king) and to pay Peter out for calling him a beast. As for what the Witch would do with the others, he didn't want her to be particularly nice to them - certainly not to put them on the same level as himself; but he managed to believe, or to pretend he believed, that she wouldn't do anything very bad to them, 'Because,' he said to himself, 'all these people who say nasty things about her are her enemies and probably half of it isn't true. She was jolly nice to me, anyway, much nicer than they are. I expect she is the rightful Queen really. Anyway, she'll be better than that awful Aslan!' At least, that was the excuse he made in his own mind for what he was doing. It wasn't a very good excuse, however, for deep down inside him he really knew that the White Witch was bad and cruel.

Do they think that by planting DWP staff in GP surgeries, that this will help people with mental health issues.

I suspect it will make people think twice about going to their surgery and people will become more ill.

Yes! I remember the time we were told it was banned. The PE teacher told us some story about a kid at another who jumped off the high equipment trying to get away and had to go to hospital. Truly a sad day!

Ours was removed a few years ago, but I still used it 😥 I think because I had great memories of it from my own education in the 80s. Back then, we used to play a game called pirates (a chasing game on the equipment) but it was banned for being too dangerous.

I hoped that the outrage about this scandal across the political spectrum demonstrated we were finally moving away from such thinking.
But Jenrick's remarks show that we are, in 2025, in an even worse place.
The comments are a symptom of a new cult of ethno-nationalism, imported from the USA and supercharged by bad actors on social media. Suddenly, a great many people - including, bizarrely, Suella Braverman - are keen on the racist idea that you simply can't be English and non-white.
