Looking for FT or contract. LDN based.

I'm a web engineer, front end specialist & tech lead. React focused for a good while but tech agnostic, regularly picking up new frameworks, even languages on the job.

Design background, experienced in backend, DBs, SysAdmin/DevOps. Love TS & TDD.

Hit me up!

Educating clients is one of the hardest things sometimes...

I was once screamed at by the err... Madam of a high-class escort agency, because I had ruined all the images of "her girls".

She was at a friend's house, who only had a computer capable of 256 colour display.

(Which also gives you some idea of just how long ago it was...)
mattround.com
Doing some colour profile adjustment & it’s reminded me of the time I had to change a web site’s colours because the client company’s IT dept had bought everyone terrible monitors and they wouldn’t accept it looked right for the rest of the world

Bet you feel a right twat now! 😜😘

Save that for when it beats 4.4%. I think that's the current peak!
davedisasterman.bsky.social
That's cos it is GenAI.

I mean, it's possible that there's some illustrator out there who's seen the style is "popular" and is copying it, but if so they pay no attention to and have little respect for their own medium...

I take it back, the shadowy figures are looking good.
davedisasterman.bsky.social
In this shadow economy? 😯

One inevitable form of slopaganda.
bildoperationen.bsky.social
This is both fascinating & frightening. There is a demand for images that show and confirm what people already know and believe to be true, and AI slop meets that demand—with visual content that emblematically visualizes what the headlines report. One could call it synthetic hypervisualization

That TikTok account has a few fake videos of reporters getting detained. They make these videos because it’s a big story in the news. Real reporters are getting arrested. And so people are making AI videos to get engagement on TikTok.

It almost always is, America or no...

"I can't remember the quotation exactly, but it's like 'when fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and wearing the cross.' Mike Johnson's the real embodiment of that." - @sarahlongwell25.bsky.social

Your humanity and value is defined by your status and paperwork, András. Only, this is the future, so you don't get paperwork.
Or status.
Or value.

Carry on, possible citizen.

Why is chip volume being reported in GW as if that's some kind of good thing/measure? Sure, I'll sell you some really inefficient chips...
edzitron.com
It currently takes 2.5+ years and $32.5bn+ a gigawatt of data center development and OpenAI says 10GW of Broadcom chips will be deployed by 2030.

Blandly repeating this stuff is failing readers. Call it what it is: nonsense
OpenAI and Broadcom AVGO 9.96%increase; green up pointing triangle are working together to develop and deploy 10 gigawatts of custom AI chips and computing systems over the next four years, a high-profile partnership aimed at satisfying some of the startup’s immense computing needs.

OpenAI plans to design its own graphics processing units, or GPUs, which will allow it to integrate what it has learned from developing powerful artificial-intellligence models into the hardware that underpins future systems. As part of the agreement announced Monday, the chips will be co-developed by OpenAI and Broadcom and deployed by the chip company starting in the second half of next year.

Took me a moment but I see it!
davedisasterman.bsky.social
But I get you, it's dispiriting. It's tough sounding the alarm and being dismissed by so many. You feel like you are pissing into the wind, even tho it's the others who are...
davedisasterman.bsky.social
OTOH, while it may not have prevented it (a big ask) it probably helped inform many people and make it easier to build resistance amongst those who otherwise might not have recognised what is happening as soon as they might otherwise.
davedisasterman.bsky.social
Sure, and you can make that illegal.
It's difficult to control perfectly, but it's not impossible to do. The only people I can think of who would shrug at such a prospect are libertarians or weird utopians.
davedisasterman.bsky.social
I would say that while you are recycling some scaffolding, it's effectively a new test if behaviour needs to change. You aren't testing the same thing. Rewriting an existing test then is just a shortcut, but if the new behaviour hasn't been implemented, then the test is gonna fail.

Weird nostalgia when people look back on MTV as "communal music discovery" not "paid music industry promotion"...

Gun control? Eh, fuck it. The guns are out there.
Murder? Well, they're dead already. Bit late to intervene.
Genocide? ¯\(°_o)/¯

Thanks Jenn. Helpful contribution.

As a criminal defense lawyer, would you say we should just get rid of all laws and regulations?

After all, we can't put the genie back in the bottle, hey?
davedisasterman.bsky.social
I don't think the rule applies to a test on existing code, unless the code is not doing what it was supposed to?

Someone cover me for Vilnius, or they'll only ring me up at 2am to tell me how awesome it is.

Again...
davedisasterman.bsky.social
Oh. @davidwhitney.co.uk will be in Vilnius too.

I mean, he and @rendle.dev will likely be in London during HalfStack too if that matters to you. But probably at work…
