The name #Yule is sometimes traced to Old English hweol, “wheel”, a reflection of the sun’s circular journey through the solstices and equinoxes. At the #WinterSolstice, that ancient wheel turns from darkness toward light once more. #FolkloreSunday

I’ve never found Galanthus cilicicus an easy species to grow. It is not fully hardy here and so needs to be pot grown in the alpine house. This is a green-tipped selection PCl-R-17-4125. #fairviewyearround

Urns planted up for winter on one of our Hertfordshire projects.
A mix of tulips, with some violas and wallflowers. Quite simple but when all the tulips pop up there will be little room for anything else.

Evening all. A Highlight has been the late flowering annuals & perennials. A low? The first frosts arrived late last week & have finally put an end to the Fuchsia 'Delta's Sarah's' flowers, turning the blooms into armless ballgown wearing zombies. Mind you, it was late November! #GardensHour 🌱

In the Sumatran rainforest's deepest reaches, strange plants - that scarcely resemble plants at all - blossom unseen. This rarity is Balanophora papuana. We found mounds of it rising from the forest floor like little reefs of coral.
