The artist Anna Ivanenko narrates a journey, with illustrations, from Ukraine to a conference in a neighboring country, without the use of air travel, owing to the Russian invasion.

Can liminal-space therapy be a thing? I think many Ukrainians need that.

As ever the Frame TV is a phd thesis in how marketing can horsepower a product into being perceived as vastly better than it is. This thing is so half-baked that *putting most frames on it* breaks the sensors, so there are third-party sensor dongles made to fix it www.theverge.com/2024/1/16/24...
Framing a Frame TV blocks the sensors, so this company made a... sensor dongle.

But it’s as owner & boss of his eponymous #F1 team that Guy Ligier will always be remembered. Équipe Ligier won 9 GPs between ’76 & ’96, & some of their cars were among the most beautiful of that era, such as the Ligier JS11 here being raced at Dijon in ’79 by Jacky Ickx. (2/2)

Remembering Guy Ligier, born #OnThisDay in ’30. A farmer’s son, he was orphaned at 7, left school at 14 & became a butcher’s boy. A champion rower & an international rugby player, he then raced bikes & cars. He started 12 #F1 GPs including Spa ’67 in a Cooper-Maser (pic). (1/2)

"yeah podcasts are great, but how can I make them about me?"

I'm increasingly convinced that much of the allure of chatbots is that it makes the user feel like the Cleverest Boy In All The Land.

Everything ends up being about *you*.

You built a house on someone else's land, and then they tore it down.

Build a house on your own land. From there you can create roads, bridges, tunnels to other people's land.

On the web land is infinite. You can make your own land.

Americans discovering autocracy would be so fun to watch if only it wasn't so tragic for their nation, and the entire world.
Things I’ve been discovering over and over this week:

- EVERYTHING is always for sale, often surprisingly cheap
- If you start doing wild shit, people will say “this can’t possibly be happening” and do nothing long enough for you to do some truly wild shit
- Being an asshole is a kind of superpower
