This. This was the formative event of my generation & our entire politics in 🇺🇸. The structural break after which we were no longer a full democracy, when 5 Wizards In Robes decided they were a super-legislature & counting all the actual votes didn’t matter. The rest has been 25 years of commentary.
25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

I feel even worse! Apparently the owner assaulted him with a rake so he went over to my neighbor’s house and tried to tell him, and my neighbor was the one who called the cops. But that’s why they took the owner in.
Omg that’s terrible.

My Fitbit luxe (second one I’ve owned, shoulda learned from the first) is crapping out on a regular basis. Doesn’t look like Google is keeping this little gadget around so there’s no support. Going to get a garmin lily but there are rumors a new one comes out in Jan so I’m a lame duck right now.

H hired a guy to come do some yard work based on a flyer on our mailbox. Guy shows up, quotes me a price (fine), he and his worker start. Next thing I know the police are in my yard arresting him for an outstanding warrant.

He’s here again tonight. Counting for teammate in the same 500 final heat as 16. Yapping it up and whistling during. Don’t know if she saw him before she swam. 16’s BFF who’s here said he’s evil and I agree.
Remember the kid who broke 16’s heart last summer? He was at the meet tonight - not bc he was swimming it (he’s doing a different meet next week). But maybe to see his friends?? I realized he was standing on deck talking to a coach when she was swimming her 200back.
