It's good that they do, but I hope they're left to explore it on their own terms. Some people can be really frickin' weird about how younger people 'should' interact with retro tech. And with some of it, hacked consoles and ROMs are the only way of playing games due to the cost of some classics.

Chris nailed it with this part at the end. Games really are just gambling sims and toys to most people. Games as art is a nice concept, but the industry will always see games as a product. Horses threatened the money in a very prudish moment, and it had to suffer for it.

I struggle so much deciphering people. I wish everyone would just be direct with me and say what they want/what they're thinking out loud.

Octopath Traveler 0 is a fascinating project, and despite how clearly you can see the seams with which it was stitched together, it's absolutely a game worth playing - even if it's as long as an entire trilogy of RPGs put together.
Octopath Traveler 0 is a messy, at times disjointed RPG that constantly betrays its unique development - yet at the same time it's an ambitious project quite unlike anything else that comes together strongly where it counts.
