My Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X review.

The top phrases running through my mind while testing it:

"Someone's getting fired for greenlighting this launch"

"This is not an Xbox"

"If this is the future of Xbox, Xbox is screwed."

Went with the middle.

This is not an Xbox
Microsoft’s first “Xbox” handhelds are shipping not fully baked.

I wonder why they cannot just have a campaign like BFBC1

Can't believe it's almost 3 months since launch! Around this time last year, the pieces was finally starting to come together. What a journey it's been!

Pst: MeshBlend and MeshPack just dropped on the Fab October Flash Sale! ✨👀

Silicon Graphics high-performance workstations brought CGI to the big screen, making possibleJurassic Park, Terminator 2, & Toy Story.

Now a memory, only its website survives; 1 in a Trillion on the #WaybackMachine ⤵️

I really hope that AMD puts this out in official form even if it has worse quality than RDNA4 level FSR4. It would be a great way to allow older GPUs on the AMD side to get in on the ML-reconstruction train even if it costs more on them.
digitalfoundry.bsky.social
AMD's leaked FSR4 INT8 in depth: image quality vs FP4, RDNA 3, RDNA 2, Steam Deck and ROG Ally tested, ballpark Xbox Series X simulations and... FSR4 on Nvidia - it works but how fast is it vs DLSS? youtu.be/fqDWJCW06Ks

If they write like that, they are not being productive and even nice. I would healthily ignore it.

Reading comments here there are two camps. (1) People that fondly remember the advancement of GPUs/the games they played and (2) fanboys that cannot comprehend that the world does not revolve around their spending practices. Hint: this video is about the 7800 GTX, not "ALL GPUs released in 2005".

It's been 20 years since the launch of the Geforce 7800 GTX. A GPU right on the cusp of the next gen consoles with the PS3 even using its tech. What did the 7800 GTX offer over its predecessor? What is it legacy? How did it play the best PC games of 2005? Find out! [sponsored]

Modern Laptop might be better ;)

Usually with more time I would rerecord the camera footage with new settings, different position with a different lighting set up but I lacked time, so I winged it!
dachsjaeger.bsky.social
Lacking the time to redo it all before production I just lined up the recordings to Match the time code and just masked and skewed my analog footage capture card footage to the CRT surface and used a fish lens shader to match the CRTs Natural curvature. So yep, I had to fake it!
dachsjaeger.bsky.social
I will always spell and pronounce like a weirdo lol

And in this case you are right! CRT footage was masked due to a time constraint. I did camera record the screen and AS a Back up I recording it on an analog capture Card at the same tome, but th on camera recording turned out with tons of moire. 🫠

I cannot WAIT til 2026 when I get to make a video on it. The 8800 GTX was just ridiculous on launch. Both the 1850XT and the 7800/7900 look like children's toys next to it in performance and features.
BTW - just managed to open up a X1950XT this morning from @timonsku.zip :D Quite the coincidence!
dachsjaeger.bsky.social
That must have felt like peering into the future. 8800 GTX was such an amazing GPU.
