During 2 1/2 hours of arguments, the court's six conservative justices seemed inclined to effectively strike down a Black majority congressional district in Louisiana because it relied too heavily on race.
US Supreme Court Appears Poised to Gut Voting Rights Act
The U.S. Supreme Court appears ready to gut a tool of the Voting Rights Act that's rooted out racial discrimination in voting for over half a century.

At this point, if you're interviewing a Republican about the president's latest transgression and you *don't* have the video or post or whatever cued up and ready to show them when they pretend they haven't seen it yet -- I'm just going to assume you're in on the con yourself.

The Trump administration cut funding for disaster preparedness there because of “DEI..”
A wonderful place, not mildly (terribly) envious. And what a day you had!

seems that RFK is clearing the path for his CDC to do tuskegee syphillis experiments as a matter of course. in other news, RFK is a genuine monster who relishes in the pain and suffering of those he feels he has control or dominion over
RFK is undoing human subjects protections so he can conduct placebo trials of vaccines. That means infecting people knowingly. I wonder who will “volunteer” for these trials? If history is any guide, a lot of incarcerated and other powerless people.
Dismantling the Institutional Review Board (IRB), that oversees all human subjects research, is bad. Really bad.

Shout out to a number of my neighbors who came out to tell them off and get the f out of our town. And to local reporters who showed up to talk to people and document it. 3/3

For those asking after the woman who was arrested for wearing a penis costume to a No Kings protest in Fairhope, Alabama, @gambleganders.bsky.social says she was released after being charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

I told her I bet Bluesky could find her a lawyer!

Focusing on the ladder? Good police work there.
Maybe look for masked men in stripey tops carrying bags marked "swag"
Films: We need to hack a keycard, obtained by seducing one of the guards. We then need to drop in from the skylight after jumping from a plane, and dodge all of the lasers and traps, carefully switching the jewels for fakes that weigh the same to avoid tripping the alarm.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has instructed staff to allow hunting in many of the roughly 600 National Wildlife Refuges, three employees said, as President Trump continues to direct select parts of the government to ignore the shutdown.
Trump allows hunting in National Wildlife Refuges despite shutdown
The Trump administration directed staff to open wildlife refuges to hunters even as many national parks and other government services close.

The Mall in Washington is just a big outdoor area, it doesn't have doors that can be locked. The only way to "close" it would be to erect many blocks worth of barriers. It's like saying "The only reason people can criticize Trump is that he hasn't thrown them in jail yet" like we should be thankful.
Mike Johnson: "We congratulate them on an apparently violent-free speech exercise ... but if President Trump was a king, the government would be open right now ... by the way, the Mall was open because President Trump hasn't closed it."

This can’t be said often enough: Trump is selling out his most loyal voting block while bailing out somebody else’s.

📍Keep an eye on this: Trump’s intentionally sabotaging U.S. farmers. His billionaire buddies will benefit by acquiring their land on the cheap.

Q: "Do you have a sense why the Secretary of Defense seems to be afraid to interact with journalists?"

Mike Johnson: "I reject that premise. Fear is not part of the Secretary of War's make up."

Don’t let the frogwater that’s boiling us alive let you skip over this: we murdered another country’s citizens in cold blood, and when their leader objected, we called him a drug dealer and cut off aid to his country. That’s freakish.
Petro objected to the US bombing a Columbian fishing vessel that had the emergency beacon on because they were broken down, that we subsequently bombed. One Columbian fisherman survived the attack.

This is the official US response to Petro's comments.
