Karoline Leavitt on what she expected for today’s demonstrations: “Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, violent criminals.”

Scott Bessent: “Most unhinged in the Democratic Party”

Mike Johnson: “The pro-Hamas wing, the antifa people.”

NYPD: More than 100,000 protesters; zero arrests.

“You can win elections by tacking to the middle; lots of people have. But you can also win elections by staking a moral position and convincing people to agree with you. You can earn support by demonstrating what is important to you instead of just being determined to nod along with what you hear.”

The 3.5% "rule" also applies to consistent, constant protesting. Not one off events imho.

So yeah, if 15 millionesh people were in the streets every day you could see why that would be problematic for the admin.

We are certainly not there yet.
Lately I've seen many references to the 3.5% rule. A few years ago I pulled together this Q&A on potential uses and misuses of this statistic. www.hks.harvard.edu/sites/defaul...

Spot on.
the whole article could have just been ten pages of “Brilliant Things Eleanor O’Brien Said,” and some gold was left on the cutting room floor, but this is such a banger of a closer and it’s so very much the theme of today

it is far better to be in a country with a mass visible protest movement than one without it

Weird approach considering that the GOP spent all week hyping this up as an apocalyptic festival of Marxist antifa grievance

I'd love to see someone try to estimate just how much time and money has gone into research that is either fully undermined by reliance on LLMs or fully pointless --- because obvious if you start from an understanding of what LLMs actually are.

I am not healthy enough to protest today. It's been a rough few weeks. If I had a wheelchair, maybe. But my heart is with you. Please get out there since I can't. No RSVP needed. You don't even need a sign! Just be there and love your fellow protestors. Remember community. Make some friends.

Thanks to @mplsforthemany.com for the Rank 3 addition to my yard sign collection. (Neighbor’s Omar Fateh sign in the background.)

I’ll be ranking:
1. @dewayneforminneapolis.com
2. @omarfatehmn.com
3. @jazzformayor.bsky.social

Thanks to the teams for those folks for bringing me signs too.
Amen. Every time I've heard Mary speak, it's the most amazing breath of fresh air on the subject of actual crime prevention from any elected or politician. For once, we get someone who might change things, and the conservatives ("moderates") all gnash their teeth and demand a Big Mean prosecutor.
