A massive study of 18,000+ births found babies exposed to COVID in the womb had higher odds of autism & developmental delays.
Scientists say it doesn’t prove causation —but it’s yet another reason RFK Jr.’s anti-vaccine advice for pregnant women is dangerously wrong.

Covid in pregnancy tied to autism, developmental issues, study says
A study published in the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology analyzed more than 18,100 births in Massachusetts of children born to women who contracted the virus starting in the early months of the pand...

NEW: The entire staff supporting ACIP was laid off, and most working groups haven't met in months.

That means the US may not make routine vaccine recommendations for more than half of children in 2026, and it could halt new vaccines in the pipeline. My latest:

The CDC was as easy to tear down as the East Wing.

The New England Journal of Medicine and the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy will be publishing regular public health alerts to replace the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, which has been paused due to the federal government shutdown.

It does somehow sum everything up neatly. Trashy vulgarian unilaterally decides to tear up an iconic American building as though it’s one of his tacky private clubs, rather than a national monument he has very temporarily (and foolishly) been permitted to inhabit.

Once again, one reason Trump says & does whatever he wants is bc every societal institution, including the media, has totally normalized & internalized the idea that the laws, the Constitution, & the international treaties we have signed & ratified simply don’t apply to this one guy. It’s maddening.
No mention at all of the fact that Trump doesn't have the legal authority to do this, that plans haven't even been reviewed (because the office is closed for the government shutdown), that the size and cost estimates keep changing, etc., etc.

Deeply weird
Trump is a deeply, deeply sick man.
Trump posts AI video showing him literally dumping shit on America
I cringe when I hear them say the suspect has “lawyered-up” — it’s like cancer saying the patient has “doctored-up”

The editors of the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) were apparently fired today.

The precursor to MMWR began in 1878 to address emerging public health threats rapidly.

We are not “great” without it. We are vulnerable to threats from sporadic foodborne illness to bioterrorism.

The Trump administration and its allies have taken several steps to ensure that medical schools in the US dismantle all diversity, equity, and inclusion policies.

It is patients who will be the victims of this, write @gavinyamey.bsky.social and @michaeldgreen.com

This type of acute heart syndrome needs a name and ICD-10 code. I propose: “Kavanaugh attack.”
So this IL Hospital Association memo describes an incident where ICE detained a US citizen, gave them HEART PROBLEMS, took them to a hospital where the fought with medical personnel, then left when they realized they detained a CITIZEN.

Would that be a pretopic pregnancy?
If Watergate happened today, we would never hear about it and Woodward and Bernstein would have already been fired.
Does he think babies are inside placentas?

“Kennedy is very effective at using obviously untrue, pseudoscientific garbage to justify wildly irresponsible and dangerous health policies. Lying about monovalent MMR will be one more feather in his cap, with the next generation of Americans paying the price.”
I wrote a thing about how this split the MMR up into monovalents is bullshit that Andrew Wakefield cooked up. It will be used to strip access to the MMR.

The MAHA movement continues to destroy public health.
