Unsurprising although disgusting to see my alma mater on the wrong side of genocide.

ok this one's gonna ruffle feathers but:

EVERY nation is unethical and problematic actually because they ALL "legally" traffic infants to the wealthy and intentionally, sometimes violently, muddy the waters for adoptees.

sorry not sorry. 😀👍
All day I’m seeing people say Nazi tattoos on gov reps are fine, meanwhile every brown person in the states has to worry about their tattoos getting them kidnapped and sent to CECOT.
Administrative burden is real. Today was dealing w health insurance to get my migraine RX & trying to get it all done before a migraine set in & I was incapable of navigating the mess. If you don’t have the capacity for the cognitive load this shit takes you’re fucked before you even start.

During Thanksgiving and holidays, people want to do food drives where they collect canned goods etc... and I really would love to offer that food banks need MONEY so if you can collect and donate MONEY please do that. They can then use those funds to purchase what's needed AT DISCOUNTS.
The goddamned Hero’s Journey has fucked is but good.
Ugh Discover feed: Read this and thought they were talking about the pre-k child nextdoor. Like seriously? You move their trash bc a 4 year old doesn’t say hi to you and is scared of your dogs. Is this an AITA post?
I know I got it wrong but it was bleak and that’s why I’m going back to bed now.
My neighbour of four years has not once said hello to me & moans about my dog & me to their friends very loudly. I now move their bin at night to where the binmen can't see it, then move it back, still full, on my early morning dog walk.

The programs will continue to receive grant funding, but only for one year.

“It is still a disruption to families,’’ Lisa McConachie of the Oregon DeafBlind Project said. “It creates this mistrust, that you are gone and back and gone and back.”

Following public outcry, the Department of Education has reversed its decision to cut funding for students who have both hearing and vision loss, opting instead to reroute grants to an organization th...

This, and I say this in all seriousness, is the best we can hope for at this point. I want it yesterday.
Of course Donald Miller loved it. It probably showed at every noun-named church in the country.
Agreed - even when I did that kind of stuff for our library it was the one of the first things that was cut due to capacity and staffing.
I mean I have as much nostalgia for drawers full of cards (🩷zettelkasten/card catalogs) as the next person but this is not ok. We are not ok.

“And then it came, the realization that—at least in my mind—79 years old was so young for a famous rich white woman in America like Diane Keaton and that 78 years old was practically a miracle for a black trans woman like Miss Major.”

This is so important esp if most of your life the only ‘feedback’ you got was when you were doing something wrong or was generally negative. Not that this was this student but I think a lot of sincere mentorship means countering old narratives & helping people see themselves/craft in new ways.
Is AnswerLand still going in CA. I know OR has had issues with fully supporting it (mostly volunteer supported) bc funding. If I could pick any library job aside from cataloging I’d totally do text, phone, or zoom reference help. Sadly those don’t get enough funding (along with everything else).
He hosts a Brit quiz show (sort of?) and has the most annoying laugh. It feels like he’s a weird doll where you pull the string and it comes out exactly the same every time. I try not to think about it because I’m afraid my brain will dub over every chime/bell/ring/alert sound in my with it.
