Bought the new Pynchon in hardcover today, at our local indie bookseller, fulfilling two promises to self. Read the first few pages while waiting for our lunch sandwiches to be toasted in a nearby patisserie, immediately getting that in-for-a-good-read feeling.

(He has actually lost some weight in the last few months and we’re trying a new food with him, but he’s still huge. An absolute unit. A real boulder of a boy. Last vet visit a few months ago resulted in: “He is a healthy, sizable cat with very little worry in his life.” 11/

Now he is a VERY big guy. We were concerned about his weight and wondered if something was wrong with his thyroid. He does get regular vet visits, bloodwork, all his shots, etc. Our vet loves him so much, and the formal diagnosis is, “He’s well-fed, happy, and retired from being feral.” 10/
