Harlequin's statement is a truly incredible lukewarm word salad that addresses none of the concerns of readers and the author in why the paperback of Heated Rivalry is out of stock everywhere.

Enraging and embarrassing.
NEW: It’s not just readers that suffer due to Harlequin’s mismanagement of the' Heated Rivalry' books. Reid misses out on royalties, & booksellers miss out on commissions—which is especially painful during the holiday season when many small businesses make the bulk of their money.
was ‘heated rivalry’ failed by its publisher?
everyone's devouring the new TV series, so why can't people buy a copy of the book the show is based on?

This.

I have an essay collection out on sub right now, and there's been caution, because an influencer's similarly structured project failed.

(Also, if you want to to read an essay collection from me, *points at agent contact in bio*)
I fear for writers, this will be used as the gotcha for reducing advances

You know, I never thought I'd be yearning for Netscape, but a "browser" that craps out GenAI nonsense?

Maybe the internet really was a mistake, at this point.

I really, really, really hate sites that think "hey this person bought something from us, therefore I will add them to mailing lists without asking first!"

The practice fills me with rage, and makes me unlikely to do business with them again.

Goal 2 for 2026: have delegation money.

I fondly recall throwing money at problems and I'd like it back.

BREAKING: NY Gov. Kathy Hochul gutted an AI regulation bill awaiting her signature and replaced it wholesale with a weaker version sought by Big Tech firms. At least two of the groups lobbying on the bill held fundraisers for Hochul in recent weeks.

most artists/crafters don't have wealth benefactors. We just have the generosity of communities & individuals who see the joy in our work & want to invest in its growth & survival.

Go find your favorite artist/crafter & support them, even if it's just a couple dollars. Help keep the dream alive.

And just a reminder: this is everyone’s health care who goes up, not just the people with subsidies. We all lose when our payer mix becomes sicker, which is what they does.
The GOP just blocked extending the ACA subsidies - again.

Making people’s healthcare skyrocket while you control the White House and both chambers of Congress seems like a great move for the midterms.

it always breaks my brain to watch them vote in a way they will 100% be punished for, when they already know they will, when voting the other way would cost them personally nothing, and the only thing they get is... hurting people.

imagine what has to be in your heart to do that.

I see you, weary and worn. I see the spark of anger burning in your soul. I also see the deep magic that lights your veins and how the four winds caress you as they try to ease your burdens. You are a gift of the old gods and together we can burn down the world.

I saw a clip of an old sitcom with a canned laugh track. That’s what generative AI feels like. Taking something vital & organic and making it hollow & mechanical. Here’s hoping AI’s fate will be the same as laugh tracks. A mocked relic of a time people accepted soulless absurdity for true emotion

I do not want to be a consumer. I want to be a patient with a robust medical team that has the time and resources to actually work with me. Medical care is not car shopping ffs.

Also, hate to break it to you, private healthcare means we have been consumers for a long time already.
Roger Marshall: "We want patients to become consumers again. We want patients to see what the actual prices are. We believe that if we would add the price tags to this bill, that it would save the country a trillion dollars a year."

For the record, it does make a difference in that if you go to urgent care needing stitches, they have you sign a form saying “this procedure will cost between $1200 and $4700” and so when you get two separate bills from the urgent care and the doctor totaling $3700…
We have a law like this in Colorado and it makes no difference.

So many progressive groups almost exclusively use Instagram for social media. If you have influence on any, PLEASE encourage them to post here more. Eventually Meta will kill their reach.
"The takedowns and restrictions began in October and targeted the Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp accounts of more than 50 organisations worldwide ... in what appears to be a growing push by Meta to limit reproductive health and queer content across its platforms."

Also this comparison shopping idea is ridiculous. A ridiculous part of my husband’s job is convincing someone at his hospital or another one that they should admit his patient into their service and then arguing with three people and forcing them to talk to each other so one of them finally agrees.
