I’m a Gen X father of two who grew up in Alaska, and lives in North Carolina.

My super power is making mixes and playlists. I try to inspire people to cook and bake. I also like bikes, boards, boats, booze, and alliteration.
Things that can be made in advance for Thanksgiving:
Cornbread for stuffing
Sausage for stuffing
Pie crusts
Fried shallots for casserole
Confit turkey legs
Stocks/reductions for gravy
Some Pie fillings

As I sit and play my morning games on my phone, I wonder what the data will show about the cognition of Gen X as we continue to age. We will be the first elder gamer as a whole, and I wonder if there will be any studies on that?

My future FIL offered me a hit off a bowl while taking a leak, but this is kinda next level.
My soon-to-be brother-in-law is English (scandal) and when he told my mother that his grandfather had been shot by the IRA, my mum said "I'm sorry that happened. But he shouldn't have been in my country" lmao

Occasionally I do family portraits for people in a cartooned way — it’s a fun alternative to photography if you’re thinking of hiring someone for this kind of service. This is a crew from whom I bought our new old Land Cruiser (they happened to be art fans, so we worked a partial trade).

My wife called dibs on the TV this morning over coffee. The conversation went something like, “The NWSL playoffs start tonight, I hope you don’t have plans…” to discussion about nachos for dinner.

I sat in my porch with my wife talking about self reflection and each other’s insecurities. I have a loving sister that I am able to be vulnerable around, and she with me. I’ve always had amazing women in my life, and I can’t overstate how lucky I am.

Hi clinical psychologist here

Don't use or let your kids use a chatbot to address to address mental health needs, just talk to a human that is a professional

"but what about.."

No. Talk to a professional.

"but what if it's just for something minor..."

No. Talk to a professional.

I still find it hard to believe that if “AFFORDABILITY,” is now the buzzword du jour, the Republicans are still keeping the keeping the government shutdown because they won’t negotiate with Democrats to reinstate ACA subsidies. The cruelty is the point
VITTERT: By Thanksgiving there are gonna be news anchors doing a show in the morn from an airport & in afternoon from a food pantry. Rs control everything. Trump said the shutdown is bad for Republicans. How long can you afford this PR crisis?

A young, authentic, Democratic Socialist upended legacy status quo Democratic politics last night in NYC. He talked to people, listened, and was fighting for things like…wait for it…AFFORDABLE HOUSING, FOOD SECURITY, CHILD CARE. How this message doesn’t work across the country I’ll never understand

Look man…that Mamdani speech brought me to tears. Yeah I’m emotional already, but that is the inspiration that people have been waiting for. I live in NC, not NYC.

We are a middle or lower middle class family. We live within our means and try to take a trip around the holidays as a family Christmas gift. This year idk. Air travel seems iffy with the shutdown still in effect. Similarly, with the associated economic effects, Christmas may be a bit more demure.
