I was going to say that the Israeli food discourse is just the "US and UK don't have a "real" cuisine" discourse with antisemitism mixed in. And is just as unserious to anyone with a basic understanding of culinary history.

I also think the politicos are severely underestimating the impact this war will have on the psyches of the soldiers and reservists. Vietnam and the GWOT shattered countless lives. Even “successful” wars like the Persian gulf led to… as a society they can’t put off reckoning with this.

Though it should be noted that early Christians made a point of currying favour with the Romans and distinguishing themselves from Jews (especially after the razing of Jerusalem), eventually leading to Christianity becoming the state religion and the dominant faith it is now.
