In 1949, C.S. Lewis’s The Abolition of Man warned that the final victory of man’s conquest of nature would not end in collective prosperity, but rather prosperity for a handful of men who had conquered the rest of us by first conquering human nature itself. We are living out his warning today.

Sorely disappointed with DW today after not being able to watch a “documentary” on War of the Worlds (YouTube). Their inexcusable use of genAI ruined the experience and makes me wonder if they used AI to write the documentary as well. If DW uses ai in their documentaries, what about the news?

I'll often see people express displeasure with books having AI-generated covers because they can't trust AI wasn't involved in the text. Sure, but even if it wasn't, a gen AI cover is a problem on its own. It's a betrayal of real artists, and the harms caused by "AI" persist no matter the output.
