i’ve been sick as a dog the past couple of days, so no family thanksgiving for us, but i managed to pull together a small thanksgiving feast for me, my partner, and one of our roommates. feeling oddly proud of that right now!

There’s no disclosure because Steam only requires it for paid games. F2P games aren’t required to disclose AI usage.

I have some feelings about that, ESPECIALLY with the amount of F2P games aimed at kids, and if you do too, you should make Steam aware of it.
For people unaware and playing/streaming Where Winds Meet, it uses GenAI for NPC chat bots, and let's you import a photo of yourself and a voice clip for character creation, which I'm sure I don't need to explain why that is fucked up

And no AI disclosure on Steam 🙃

I think this game is a great example of how quickly people "forget" their ethical stance when something looks pretty, fresh and fun, and they don't wanna be left out – and thus the tolerance for the intolerable slowly shifts because it's easier to not rid yourself of this experience.
everyone playing where winds meet did you know that its FULL OF GENERATIVE AI? why are you playing it!

got my anxious cat some anxiety meds at the vet yesterday and it’s incredible how much it seems to be helping her. she didn’t wake me up once last night and i even saw her snuggling her sister and letting herself be groomed.

Just a heads up, that Where Winds Meet Game is chock full of AI/LLM garbage, WILD headline aside, don't play this.

Espicially don't use its AI powered Face and voice scanner that replicates it in game, but absolutely is storing that data.

www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/wu...
Wuxia MMO Where Winds Meet is full of AI chatbot NPCs, and people are doing all the standard obscene stuff to them: 'I made him think that my character was pregnant with his child'
Can't we just go back to the Zork school of NPC dialog?

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

we brought a toy for the 14-year-old shop cat at our local wild birds unlimited and she was SO happy and wanted to play the whole time we were there. A+ feline behavior

Listen to those workers closest to day-to-day realities, so we don’t need a 50th anniversary remembrance of the next preventable disaster. 🚢🌊
SS Edmund Fitzgerald had a structural defect in its keel. Sailors on that ship had complained about the ship bending and flexing during storms, especially when it was overloaded, which it usually was. They had also found old keel weld breaks due to structural fatigue, which were never repaired

If this is true, I urge people to change it to warn. You are a better judge of what is actual engagement farming than any algorithim will ever be. And if you find the warning is accurate, you can just block the account and move on
I am beginning to suspect that my one a day book ads for the novella are getting caught up in the “engagement farming” filtering that was implemented. Which, considering how much I post otherwise, is wild.

The reason I’ve been able to be successful on here is because BlueSky didn’t suppress links

For clarity: now posts by “rude” users are hidden by default, meaning you won’t see them unless you dig into the settings and change them. It’s a really disturbing change in terms of silencing dissent bc anyone being “rude” to the mods could get shadowbanned

Check this setting—it changed without your consent! I used to get warnings when a user was labeled “rude” but that was turned off by default.

Change it!!
Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

First go to the hamburger menu in the upper left corner

Reminder!!

Bluesky has a pronoun labeler you should really use!

Only those who subscribe to this will see it so you should do that. Don't worry, that's all it does.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

this is my game, I Don’t Remember When I Started Killing Bugs Again. to play, you log it every time you kill an insect. this is also available as a web app @transwron.gs made with me. people tell me it changed their behavior- they think twice about hurting insects when they remember the rules.
