I'm going to promote the heck out of this:

The Minneapolis Foundation has $4 million in grants available to small businesses for everything from rent and payroll costs to legal help and temporary relocation.

More details and the application here: www.minneapolisfoundation.org/stories/comm...
Economic Response Fund Grant Guidelines

My partner looked up something about Brandi Carlisle (about the tour), and one of the questions in the result was "How many wives does Brandi Carlisle have?"

How many times, in how many contexts, in how many ways am I going to have to say that this is what "AI" does— what it fundamentally *is*— before it sinks in? That all Bullshit engines do is statistically correlate training data & inputs via their weights to produce outputs you are likely to accept…

I'd bet money that someone at DHS has referred to this tactic unironically as a "Good Samaritan trap."
CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

“what cool shit can I do as Mayor? oh, I can marry people? awesome, let’s do it”

once again the constant theme of “New York is great, New Yorkers are great, isn’t this great?” comes through
Everyone in the world comes to get married at the NYC Marriage Bureau. Last week, the Mayor stopped by to officiate a few of those ceremonies.

Thank you to all the couples who shared their joy with us. Happy Valentine's Day, New York.

"Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection, which are at the center of the parties’ dispute, will be even less affected by the shutdown. Employees at both agencies are expected to continue working and to continue getting paid"
BREAKING: The Department of Homeland Security shuts down as the White House and Democratic leaders continue to discuss changes to U.S. immigration enforcement.
Homeland Security Department shuts down as Democrats and Trump negotiate changes

Is Naomi Wolf a flatbush resident?!
A detective show with Naomi Wolf where she always comes to the dumbest possible conclusion, and the killer gets so pissed off they confess.

As a World Cup Soccer fan, I am SO hype to bring this Global Soccer class to the public-- after the New School cancelled it.

We just need enough people to sign the interest form so we can get the ball rolling! :)
oooooh this looks GOOD 🤩
Friends!

The New School has cancelled one of its most popular graduate courses, Global Soccer and World Politics.

We want to host this course for @resistanceschool.bsky.social ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

could the plants evolve berries inside burrs so we could take a hike and then pick fruit off our pants for snax?
It was believed in medieval times that hedgehogs had spikes so they could roll over fruit to carry home to their children, which is not true but is a really cute idea

So it’s a race: how quickly can a person’s family realize they were snatched and find a lawyer, and how quickly can that lawyer get a habeas petition of file? And is that faster than ICE can load the detainee on a plane to Texas?

It’s exhausting and terrifying. It can be life and death.

Local immigrant defense networks were deluged with life and death cases. They put a call out for private lawyers to step in and provide pro bono help.

My firm did. And since we joined the effort on January 14, it’s been some of the hardest, most exhausting, most depressing month of my life.

Nurses were so angry they MARCHED ON THEIR OWN UNION LEADERS who tried to push this agreement on them.

'Nurses marched from Macy’s on 34th Street to the union’s headquarters a block south on West 33rd to deliver the petition on Wednesday, chanting “We are your nurses! Listen to your nurses!”'

The posts about colonoscopies are making me feel better about how much I blabbed to my friends about my first. Which I delayed for a year because I was unclear about the process.

"eat berries like a toddler with grown up money" is such a good phrase.
More fiber, less booze, less tobacco and the odds shift in your favor. When I had my first colonoscopy my doctor was damned near giddy about my lack of polyps and I thought she was weird. But turns out the fact that I eat berries like a toddler with grown up money makes a difference

Colon cancer numbers are rising in the US, UK, Canada, China, Australia, India, South Korea, the EU, Brazil, South Africa etc., the exception is in women in Nordic states who are more likely to eat a diet high in fiber because of berries. Eat beans, berries and other high fiber foods. Limit booze
So many Americans are dying from colon cancer and thats terrifying to me.
