The person killed by a driver on SE Calle Cesar Chavez on Wednesday has been identified as 87-year-old Grey Wolfe, a well-known local grief counselor and mental health therapist.
Calle Cesar Chavez is a high-volume arterial with a 30 mph speed limit, four general travel lanes and a notorious history of fatal crashes.

One of the few salutary things about the current moment (I’m thinking of maybe the last 20 months) is the exposure of campus governance structures. Many of us know a lot more about how our institutions work—power and influence, as well as actual rules—than might have been the case prior.
Use that.

Do not blame institutions, which are many things to many people.
Do not blame the people who work there, who have little real say and are universally staunchly opposed. (Very often students too.)
Instead:
Blame leadership.
Blame alumni with fingers on scales.
Blame the media for normalizing.

Last night, my children complained that their stuffies smelled wierd.
They had been cross contaminated with the dozen fresh bagels also in my tote 😆. Even though the stuffies were in a cloth bag, and the bagels were in paper+shopping, the onion, everything, etc, was strong.

There's a deadly building on fire in Hong Kong and the culprit seems to be the fact that the building was wrapped in bamboo and nylon scaffolding which let the fire run up the outside of the building. But residents were, allegedly, given the traditional stay inside rules for skyscrapers.
