Rob Wieland's first email to me was on Sat, Oct 21, 2006, asking to get the PDF of Spirit of the Century to go with his physical-copy purchase.

There since the beginning.

Wish he could've been there until the end.
Cover of Fate Worlds Volume 2: Worlds in Shadow, featuring cover art taken from Rob Wieland's contribution to this book, the amazing King-Arthur-in-Mech-Suits CAMELOT Trigger setting. Armored mech-knights suit up to face the robotic horde led by the giant-floating-head MerGN-A! In this interior image from CAMELOT Trigger, we get a closer look at the giant floating head MerGN-A as her mouth opens to disgorge endless flying robots. Writing credit:

I understand why they came to that decision, but the GM advice remains gold standard

That was a great session. Good memories. I hope we get another chance to play games together.

Dogs in the Vineyard blew my mind.

I had three teachers for how to run #TTRPGs: @rustysellsword.com by example, and @megueyb.bsky.social + @lumpley.bsky.social through the text of DitV.

For tons of folks, there was that -one- game that blew the doors open and showed what #TTRPGs could be. The one that started the #IndieGame rabbit hole.

What was YOUR "gateway" indie #TTRPG? The first one that made you realize a whole other world was out there?

Rob was a great guy and did so much to support indie games. My heart goes out to his family. He will be sorely missed.

I am absolutely gutted to hear of the death of Rob Wieland, literally one of the greatest tabletop reviewers and commentators we had. Tirelessly tracked industry news, omnipresent in our collective circles and communities. I am so sad for his young family. These are dark days, friends.

If you’ve read an article about RTG or our games in the past few years, chances are it was written by Rob Wieland, one of the power houses of TTRPG journalism.

Always a great guy in my interactions with him, tireless advocate for the gaming community. It's a heartbreak.

Rob Wieland was the tabletop community's Man At Forbes who did a lot to promote us all in the public eye. His last post was on the Last Caravan Kickstarter, which he probably did not anticipate would be his last.

May we all attain the level of kindness and geekery that Rob did.

Extremely sad to hear the passing of Rob Wieland. He was a beloved figure in tabletop and a friend.

Will miss our post-con chats, Rob.

The young with so much more to do and so many who love them are taken, and the evil and powerful linger. The 2020s are fucking rotten.

I didn’t know him well, enough to say hi-how’s-it-going at a con booth or hotel bar, but he was one of gaming’s good guys. I’m gutted.

Oh god. Rob was too young. He had so much more to say, to do. Jesus.

THIS. If a politician is willing to abandon today's Inconvenient Vulnerable Group in the name of political expedience? They'll abandon them all. And fascists will not be appeased by any of it, anyway. They just switch targets. That's how this works.
shaunvids.bsky.social
thinking about the liberal politicians willing to try to compromise with fascists by abandoning minority groups they don't really like - i wish they understood that fascists will come for everyone eventually. even themselves. fascism unopposed is a ruined state with everyone dead

We try to refrain from using the word “just“ in any of our software planning meetings

It’s such a trap

I assumed the context was the usual “who’s the Dem presidential nominee in 2028”, if the discussion is CA specific I will plead ignorance

You have other options who are just as good against Trump but also don‘t sell out trans people or give fascists free air time on their podcasts

There’s a callback to this in the 2020 Animal Crossing game. You have a “passport” that you can get stamped by visiting different parts of the museum.
