The oil and gas industry has been staggeringly profitable for Alberta. Despite their promises and greenwashing, the industry is leaving a liability of $100 to $300 billion for the taxpayers.

This is what happens when an industry captures the government. They steal, lie and leave.

I was incredibly excited for Superman, but I'm even more excited for Supergirl. Is Tom King problematic? Yes. Has he written some bad stuff? Yes again. But he has also shown that he can be an absolute master of short-form stories and series. Supergirl. Vision. Superman: Up in the Sky. All amazing.
Truth. Justice. Whatever. #Supergirl lands in theaters and IMAX June 26.

Alberta is too staggeringly corrupt for the rest of the country to treat as if it's just a very conservative province. The illegality and bad intentions of the Alberta government is a national threat. The UCP is likely closely allied with hostile foreign actors.

Every time Trump says "transgender for everyone", I am reminded that a core of my fellow Canadians are so hateful and so easily directed at innocent targets, that they're not only willing to attack trans people, THEY THINK THAT THEY'RE GOOD AND DECENT FOR DOING SO.

I loathe these people.

So farmers are getting a bailout, meaning that they are getting tax monies collected from everyone.

They'll whine about blue states, but they're sure fucking eager to steal blue state money. Farmers voted for Trump's policies but just don't want to live with the consequences of them. So. Entitled.

There are no decent big tech companies. Google actively censors Palestinian voices and amplifies Israeli lies. Because it pays them exceedingly well to do so.

If they could get away with it, and they were paid enough, Google would produce search results denying that any babies were murdered.

I'm playing Routine, a science fiction horror/mystery title. It's great. The visual design is outstanding. You are a technician sent help out on an established moon base. The base is wrecked and abandoned. The robot workforce has turned hostile. You try to survive and discover what has happened.

I have never watched much anime (Ghost in the Shell, Ergo Proxy, Pluto), but I saw clips of Serial Experiments Lain and decided to give it a try.

It is amazingly good. Full of silences and very prescient, it's an amazing series. I highly, highly recommend it.

More shows should be this moody.

People expect that Canadian government to somehow negotiate with Trump. Well, conservatives expect it. We all see the tempestuous, free-floating torrent of bullshit that the man produces and we're somehow supposed to come to an accord with him? We're supposed to trust him?

I sometimes look at what conservative commentators have been writing since Trump was elected. Especially in view of his absolutely horrible economic policies (what they lie that they're experts on), his corruption and especially THE WHITE SUPREMACY.

They have nothing to say about blatant racism.

I have read a lot of science fiction. Alongside Ursula K. LeGuin and Octavia Butler, Gene Wolfe was a genius. And I think that his best book, tragically, was Return to the Whorl.

Why tragically? Because you have to have read ten proceeding books to appreciate it. They are amazing books. But still..

If this had been Biden, the media would be yelling constantly about it. But the larger media is cowed and corrupted with almost no exceptions. They are comfortable people who do not worry about a slide into corrupt authoritarianism, because they think that it won't effect their wealth level.

Amazon's AI dub is just shit. They shouldn't have done it in the first place. The horrible quality should tell the company that they made a huge, huge mistake. This is dreadful. Their audience will loathe this. Absolutely hate it. And they should. Many people would have heard this shit in advance.
Welp, a second AI dub on Amazon has apparently been found, and it's a show that already had a perfectly normal (albeit non-union) dub: No Game No Life.
