Mesquite trees are botanically classified in the genus Prosopis, part of the Fabaceae (legume) family. The common name "mesquite" is a Spanish adaptation of the Aztec word "mizquitl". Several species are commonly referred to as "mesquite," including honey mesquite (Prosopis glandulosa), velvet mesquite (Prosopis velutina), and screwbean mesquite (Prosopis glandulosa var. torreyana).
Mesquites have extremely long roots to seek water from very far under ground. As they are legumes, mesquites are one of the few sources of fixed nitrogen in the desert habitat. The trees bloom from spring to summer. They often produce fruits known as "pods". Mesquites are able to grow up to 8 metres (26 ft) tall, depending on site and climate. They are deciduous and depending on location and rainfall have either deep or shallow roots. Mesquites are considered long-lived because of the low mortality rate after the dicotyledonous stage and juveniles are also able to survive in conditions with low light and drought. The Cahuilla indigenous people of western North America were known to eat the seeds of mesquite.[2]

You’re not unmotivated.

You’re overwhelmed.

You’re not “too sensitive”.

You’re attuned.

You’re not dramatic.

You’re dysregulated.

Language has been used to wound us.

It’s time we take it back.

Being autistic doesn’t make you a bad person.

I can’t say this enough.

I had the best day outside working in the backyard rearranging pots and picking up the messes from all of the storms.
I have missed being outside for months and months and now I refuse to come back inside to even clean up.
I am six or even 7 years old again and I am ecstatically happy. 😘

All of it is terribly troubling!
To attack our most vulnerable people is a sign of moral and ethical decay.
I learn more everyday how similar the United States and the UK are.

don’t worry i know the actual answer is that media literacy for visuals is even *more* in the toilet than for the written word, and that these people never respected visual artists outside of “the fine art world” in the first place :)

Austrocylindropuntia is a genus of cacti (family Cactaceae) with 11 recognized species, which were once included in the genus Opuntia. Some are native to South America.
*not opuntia close up of the interior of a desert flower growing in my front yard, this is a flower on what is colloquially called and Eve's needle or eves pin cactus, the name is transitioning Astrocylindropuntia subulata.
Astrocylindropuntia Subulata or Eve's Needle or Pin. The branching, tree-like specimen grows to thirteen feet tall and about ten feet wide, with cylindrical deep green leaves. New growth does not have many spines, but as the plant matures yellowish-red spines develop on its tip. Astrocylindropuntia subulata rarely blooms in cultivation, but when it does, it produces long, coppery red, showy blooms. Its fruit is oblong with small spines; use it in attractive containers, raised beds, and cactus gardens, as a showy specimen in atriums, or as an understory plant. This exquisite cactus is native to the higher elevations of Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, and Bolivia, where it is used and cultivated as a living fence.
Austrocylindropuntia subulata can reach heights up to 4 metres (13 ft), with numerous branches, mine is about 5 ft high and at least 8 ft wide. The elongated, slightly brittle branches are up to 50 centimetres (20 in) long. The stems are marked by *rhomboid to ovate* bumps in a few spiral rows. At the tip of each bump is the areole, from which grow one to four straight, grayish-white spines up to 8 centimetres (3 in) long. The awl-like rudimentary leaves are up to 12 centimetres (5 in) long.
The orangy-pink flowers are up to 6 centimetres (21⁄4 in) long. The long, warty hypanthium is covered by rudimentary leaves up to 2 centimetres (3⁄4 in) long. The fruit are ovoid or club-like and sometimes thorny. They are up to 10 centimetres (4 in) long.

The secret power of a people’s movement is that it’s random.

It’s neighbors protecting immigrants from ICE. It’s millions canceling Disney+. It’s a man throwing a sandwich. It’s inflatable frogs dancing.

Dictators struggle to fight a movement, because they can’t do what they want most—control us.

So do White people in the west just believe it’s okay to resurrect the dead to make them dance and perform for your pleasure?
Is this a cultural difference?
Because where I come from, disturbing the dead usually comes with consequences.
Bad ones.

Autistic people aren’t broken versions of normal.

We are the proof that “normal” was never real.

The world needs our way of seeing - it just doesn’t know it yet.
cindym.bsky.social
I radically endorse this notion.
Every signpost tells me that I am broken
But the feedback that I get from real world living is that I have skills that most other people do not have.
I'm unique
My perspective is often noted
I do not need any more evidence,
but I will never convince the world. 🤷‍♀️

It really does feel like the internet is analogous to the advent of the printing press. One day you’re like “oh hey books are cheap now” the next day everyone’s talking about a pamphlet titled “Ye turnip is yon toole of ye popish dyvill “
