While Carney’s Liberals have teamed up with the Conservatives and Bloc to fast track this bill, we will never give in to Trump-like xenophobic attacks on migrants and newcomers.

NDP MP Jenny Kwan says it was 'astounding and horrific' to see the Liberals work with the Conservatives to lead Canada toward a more 'draconian' immigration system through Bill C-12.

The passage of Bill C-12 in parliament's last sitting marks a day of shame for Canada.

It’s an assault on the rights of migrants, refugees, and all Canadian citizens. Rather than keeping us safe, this bill creates a deportation machine that drags us ever closer to the horrors happening in the US.

Tonight, we'll be exploring why rejecting militarism and investing in climate justice are part of the same fight: building a country where public services work, basic needs are affordable, and Canada is a voice for peace, not war.

Hope to see you there!

3 Americans reportedly killed and 3 more injured by an ISIS attack in Syria (1 civilian among the dead, the other 5 military personnel).

You may remember Syria as one of those US forever wars that peace president Donald Trump ended, and ISIS a terrorist group that Trump declared totally destroyed.

Maybe this is a compromise:

MPs are allowed to cross the floor, but only after a plebicite is held in their riding. After 90 days, a plebicite is held, and if voters approve, they can cross the floor.

If voters REJECT the crossing, they must remain an independent until the next general election

Carney fans: Far left critics need to stop saying Carney is a conservative.

I know Rachel is joking, but it's true.

The timing was what mattered to Carney. If the CPC was without a leader in this moment, and he felt it could lead him to power, he would have become leader of the Conservatives

He was fine being in Harper's cabinet ideologically. Timing was the only issue
Poilievre's leadership is flailing so maybe the guy who seems to be dreaming about leading the Conservative Party can finally get his chance.

Mark Carney, go get 'em tiger!

I've seen a lot of people (including within my field ?!) criticizing the NDP for walking away and choosing to write their own dissenting report. But it's the fault of Ford Nation!

The Conservatives have once again made something partisan and as a result, derailed the actual real work.
Even if this government report wasn‘t generated using AI — a big if — that it contains incorrect and made-up references should be enough to discredit it and the author. Speaking from experience, this would *never* happen in a report prepared by professional researchers.

I will say that I find it very shady and mildly undemocratic that the Liberals are trying to obtain a majority they weren’t elected on through floor crossings

That and minority governments are better for democracy due to the compromise they necessitate

OH WELL
BREAKING: Conservative MP Michael Ma is crossing the floor to sit as a Liberal.

Liberals are now just one seat short of a majority.

He will use this majority to crush workers, Indigenous communities, and so many others.

The path for Canada is clear to make the knockouts

1. You MUST beat Qatar. Simply a must-win game
2. You need to get a draw in one of the other two by any means necessary

That probably secures one of the 3rd place positions
