just started this… a lot of this era is slightly before my time but weirdly some of the most overplayed songs I do remember have actually aged very well (Take Me Out, California). also I have been sleeping on The Dismemberment Plan!

Just finished it yesterday, it's a great history.

I was absolutely one of the people who followed this progression in music - mostly in shards from Iraq and Afghanistan - and there are huge parts of the story I just did not appreciate.

If you've ever worried about Losing Your Edge, it's for you.

So happy I’ve seen this movie now so I can move on to the best part of the cinematic experience: digesting takes

Listening to PinkPantheress' 'Fancy Some More?' a really fun remix album that nonetheless once again demonstrates why comparing other remix albums to 'Brat and it's completely different' is like comparing other blockbuster sequels to 'The Godfather Part II'

Not a lot of times in life I can feel myself explicitly Practicing Self-Care but this morning after one of the more brutal Philly sports nights of my life I did interrupt my usual run through New Music Friday to listen to the full 'Brat' remix album

I say this as a big PTA fan: He doesn't have that Nolan/Tarantino normie name recognition and probably never will. And I don't think most people outside the film-nerd bubble remember any of his movies except There Will Be Blood and Boogie Nights. (MAYBE Magnolia, but I wouldn't bet my house on it.)

I live in less of a culture-vulture bubble than you might imagine, but I've still been a little taken aback to encounter people recently who a) don't know who directed the new Leo movie or it it's out yet and b) don't even know who Paul Thomas Anderson is

Columbus Crew captain and MLS legend Darlington Nagbe announced this week that he'll retire after the team's playoff run this fall. Sensing his career was coming to a close, a few months ago I profiled him for Columbus Monthly: www.columbusmonthly.com/story/lifest...

An especially silly example, but I see "[much-celebrated legend] is underrated/overlooked" WAY too much these days. IDK if you're young, or hang with the wrong people, or are just desperate for an angle, but this is a very boring (as well as inaccurate) way to discuss someone.

I'm excited for Limp Bizkit, but I'm a little worried about Antifa...
Question
I'm sick and tired of seeing these thugs terrorize big events and am worried that they will try to interrupt Limp Bizkit's set. My gf (F19) and I (M31) are going to our first Lollapalooza and are concerned about the growing threat around the city
