I've had a ton of new followers, so let me introduce myself 🕺

I'm Chloe, SEO & content strategist and co-founder of LGBT SEOs. I won Rising Star at the UK Search Awards last year, and am constantly striving to make SEO a more diverse place.

I'm disabled, queer, mouthy, and chaotic. ✨
a moment of silence for:
- industry content marketers scrambling
- any brightonSEO speakers with slides on AI search, browsers, agents etc
- all consultants/freelancers/agency folks who'll be asked a billion questions tomorrow
that's fair. just finding it interesting that it's being devalued vs travel blogger content despite clear authority for things like "things to do in [city]" with no apparent algo update.

(i saw the notification for your DM but can't reply 😂)
(i'd DM you but i don't fancy giving bsky my ID lol)
hey @johnmu.com how good is google at understanding government-funded/endorsed sites without a .gov.uk domain name? currently working with a city's official tourism board and have seen major ranking drops where they should probably have some visibility and would like to understand why

Blind people use white canes and guide dogs to get around in the physical world. In the digital world, they use zoom, magnifiers, screen readers, and Braille displays. Many of those tools rely on the code underneath. So, bad markup, means, bad experience.

You don't necessarily need to say "image of" in your alt text for users to know it's an image. Screen readers will announce that it's an image. But it can help readers to specify if it's a hand-drawn image, Polaroid, infographic, screenshot, chart, map, diagram, or so on.

How to stand out, when anyone can use AI to build anything?
For @antonsten.comSten, most people go for “how do we build this”, instead of asking “what should be built that people actually want?”. This leads to a situation, where, most new apps and products, solve, fake problems.
How to stand out when anyone can build anything | Anton Sten
When AI tools have democratized product creation, standing out isn't about better tools or flashier features—it's about fundamentally different skills that most people skip entirely.

Ever wanted to try and build a search engine? Maybe, maybe not. But if you want to learn more about how search engines work and don’t have the time to try it all for yourself, Wilson has you covered.

It’s hard to really summarise the level of detail in this one, so I’d suggest you read it.

Building a web search engine from scratch in two months with 3 billion neural embeddings
End-to-end deep dive of the project, spanning a large GPU cluster, distributed RocksDB, and terabytes of sharded HNSW.

the iphone 17 looks AI generated and i can't explain why
damn, that was its one draw for me 😂 can't stand the AIO format
and it's not just "people are spending their time elsewhere".

think about *why* people are spending time, searching, and getting their info from other platforms. it's because the entire search experience has been ruined, gutted, and made anew by shiny new tech that no one actually wants.
someone help this guy do the math because he clearly can't

display ad revenue is declining

display ad revenue relies on websites getting traffic

if web traffic is thriving... surely display ad revenue would be thriving

there's only so much corporate spin people can take bro

Google’s position is now that the open web
Is thriving but open web ads are in rapid decline… because of course all the attention and money leaving a platform is irrelevant to its health lol

🚨 SEOs & Marketers: Beware that some hosting platforms are blocking AI crawlers by default without alerting website owners. I detected yesterday that this was happening with the hosting of a couple of my sites after validating that there were server connection refusal errors to AI bots...

I’m going to be mumbling “a big Dyson sphere around the solar system” to myself for days now
anyone who has ever spent time with a 5 year old has heard stories like this, except 5 year olds are cute and their tall tales are charming
I didn't know this, thank you! I just got my access card approved for chronic pain so trying to remind myself that I am allowed to take up space again (have been in remission for a couple of years but it's back now 🥴)
I was talking to a friend about that actually, because if we were less determined to dance our lil hearts out in the pit we would've probs been trying for accessible tickets too. Saw that the queue was over 1000 people long 😭 there has to be a better way to distribute them!
