I'm Chris. I'm a theoretical chemist who, as an academic, also took an early interest in online education. Traveling the admin path, I was privileged to serve as VPR for UMN for 3 yrs. Now I'm a higher-ed expat in Chicago thrilled to serve as CRO for non-profit UL Research Institutes. #SafetyScience

Vance on public outrage over the "I love Hitler" group chat: "Grow up! Focus on the real issues. Don't focus on what kids say in group chats... The reality is that kids do stupid things, especially young boys — they tell edgy, offensive jokes. That's what kids do."

The “80% vs 100% charge” debate misses the bigger point.

Unless you’re running NMC, topping up isn’t the main concern.

The real risk is charging at rates your battery was never designed to handle. ⚡🔋

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.

Blessed are the frogs, for they keep making authoritarians look incredibly stupid

It's the TX guard troops that add further volatility, unfortunately. Too many bad faith actors hoping for an excuse to rampage.

I don't have much faith in the power of prayer, I admit.

But for Dolly Parton? Least I can offer. 🙏

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.
