I love research, cats, fractions, and being outside. I am a recovering academic with a PhD in Education. Despite my posts about the craziness at my former institution, I am a believer in higher education and I think it can change lives (for the better).

MELIA can live with cats, no dogs. She needs a patient, loving human who can train and be her forever. She needs a calm adult only home. 3.5 years old. Around 50 pounds. Over 800 days 😢

DOGE is quietly dead months before its charter ends. OPM says the office doesn’t even exist anymore. No transparency, no verified savings, nothing to show for the hype. They claimed they were built to find fraud, but honestly, the whole thing felt like the fraud.

One in five students in Charlotte missed school last week after ICE began its crackdown in the city. The stories of the terror and trauma ICE is causing our kids are horrific. Schools must be ICE-free zones.

In Northfield, Minnesota, masked ICE GOONS violently abducted a father. The Goons smashed a car window, beat and dragged the man at gunpoint, while his teenage son filmed the incident and begged them to stop. The father has not been seen since. (November 11, 2025)

If he is saying billion, with a B, that's about 400 pounds per person, which seems like an unhealthy amount of weight to lose. bsky.app/profile/acyn...
Oz: We thought it was 125 million pounds. Our estimate is Americans will lose 135 billion pounds by the midterms

“every time theres a republican president the economy collapses” feels like pretty easy messaging on the economy
Congrats to everyone who put Republicans in charge "for the economy," the first three quarters of 2025 already had more layoffs than any of the years in which Biden or Obama was President except 2009 (when Dems were still cleaning up the prior Republican mess).

The FBI director is flying his girlfriend around on private government planes while FBI agents go without paychecks and families prepare to go hungry as SNAP benefits are being suspended
Patel's girlfriend performed at Penn State last weekend. A government jet arrived at State College Regional Airport, according to its FAA registration, with an address listing the FBI HQ. The plane then flew to Nashville, where his girlfriend lives.

All on the taxpayer’s dime.

JB Pritzker creating the “Illinois Accountability Commission” isn’t getting enough attention. Its focus is on immigration agents & it will document abuses, capture impacts on families and communities, & recommend actions to prevent further harm. We need more of these nationwide.

That’s $500 million lost per day
Every $1 invested in SNAP generates $1.80 in local economic activity. Without SNAP, that will mean a loss of $15 billion to the US economy just in November alone.
Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
