Tonight Askasleikir (Bowl Licker), the 6th of Iceland's 13 Yule Lads, comes down from the mountains. He likes to hide under beds and steal used bowls to lick them clean.
Children leave their shoes out in the window for him, he gives the good ones a small gift or a treat, the bad ones get a potato.
