More sociopathic and immoral behavior from ICE. Children should NEVER be separated from their parents. It's revolting.

ICE kidnapped a 7th-grader with a pending asylum claim and spirited him out of state without notifying his parents, seemingly with the cooperation of the local police in Everett, MA.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

It's good to hear political candidates for office saying the obvious. ICE is acting like the secret police and are operating outside the law (and also breaking the law). It honestly makes my stomach churn to see all the horrible videos of their behavior.

This is how it’s done. I keep saying this: if you’re running for national office right now, this is the platform. These tactics are not popular and will not be protected by a majority in the future.

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.

ICE stories make me feel sick. Its hard to put into words how revolting their behavior is.

Kid Rock: Do you know what is stupid… these chicks running around on campuses with blue hair, five nose rings.

Exactly! Same with their parents. I wouldn't send a kid to a school in Texas right now because they're cracking down on free thinking from everyone

It feels like it was written by someone who's delivered an extortion message before. They know it doesn't make sense but they don't care, because they're the ones holding metaphorical gun

I'm hoping the General Assembly will pull out some sticks to discourage their board from making that move. And, Spanberger too, if she's elected.

A big thanks to @mit.edu. Their saying NO to the compact will hopefully make it easier for smaller schools to say no as well. This is a collective action problem & MIT is signalling they're choosing cooperation over self interest. Too bad @columbiauniversity.bsky.social didn't do this earlier

Thanks to @ggwash.org for letting me write this piece on Montgomery Co. as part of the Homelessness Crisis Reporting Project. In the DMV, Montgomery County saw the biggest numeric increase during this period. I look at how service providers like Shepherd's Table see the problem & are responding.
Services strive to respond to rising homelessness in Montgomery County
Montgomery County saw a 162% increase in its homeless population between 2021 and 2025. Changes to the SNAP program and the potential removal of Affordable Care Act subsidies could exacerbate problems...

“We should replace Bad Bunny with Lee Greenwood” is an also a perfect summation of the “deal” they’ve offered universities.

How did this writer miss the Johnny Cash revival in the early aughts (the movie, the acoustic album, Roseanne talking abt him in interviews). Even if he was in diapers when it happened, all that stuff should have shown up in research.

OK. It's going to be coming out soon because of the relentless investigations of Pam Bondi and Kash Patel, so I might as well admit it before the news breaks:

I am the General Counsel of Antifa.

So many university presidents seem to think they can fly under the radar without realizing that the maga goal is to take over the entire university sector. We are all in their sightline. No university can hide their way out of this.

Attention university presidents and boards of trustees:

"Those who oppose authoritarianism have to play a different game, creating solidarity among an unwieldy coalition, which knows that if everyone holds together, they will surely succeed."
