It's fascinating to see from these pulled quotes, over and over again, how much of my worldview and social philosophy was guided (maybe even formed) by reading Pratchett in my 20s. He should be required reading. Especially the Vimes series.

5 stars to @robertjbennett.bsky.social 's forthcoming A DROP OF CORRUPTION.

More plant-based nonsense! An impossible bank robbery! Political machinations! Very bizarre "cuisine." It's got it all folks.

Review – A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett
Robert Jackson Bennett’s (bluesky) A DROP OF CORRUPTION is the follow up to THE TAINTED CUP (which I previously reviewed). I don’t use the word “sequel” because despite being a fantasy novel, where…

Nice people are struggling over the revelations on Gaiman, and something I keep hearing is, 'His work had a big influence on how I shaped my own identity.' So here's something to remember:

UK, Dragonfall is still only 99p. Read about a dragon trapped in human form who's real mad about it while falling in love with a human despite his best efforts not to. Heist. Weird narrative positions. The dragons have feathers. Queernorm world. Signal boosting appreciated. Sequel out in March.

Every time I've advised orgs on inclusion, especially on LGBTQ+ inclusion, I've said they need a detailed plan for how to respond when the attacks come.

DO NOT put your LGBTQ staff into the public eye if you are not ready to stand with them and don't have a plan to support them. This isn't a game.
Well this sucks. Museum caves in in response to a hostile article in the local press written by a former Restore Trust director.

If you’re gonna have these initiatives at your museum, you need to have some backbone too.

Since a lot of air time is being given to the shitty wizard books, I want to give attention to @freyamarske.bsky.social's fantastic The Last Binding series. It's unabashedly queer and horny, but to the above point: her magic system OWNS. The rules for magic, the execution of it, fun as hell.

When botanist Richard Deakin examined Rome’s Colosseum in the 1850s, he found 420 species of plant growing in the ruins: cypresses and ilex, pea plants and more than 50 types of grasses.

But some flowers growing there mystified him. They were so rare they were found nowhere else in Europe.
