Yes, it me. Talk to me. Writing, woodworking, farming, Linux/FOSS, visual arts, bad puns, critters, music, silliness. Be the middle finger you want to see in the world.

This #FossilFriday it's one we found a couple of days ago but a perfect split to reveal this stunning calcite ammonite! Sadly not ideal tides to head out today to find bits but who knows what's lurking out there for next week!

At first glance this might look like a shot of the seashore on the ocean. That's not water but a thick layer of fog creeping towards the foothills, creating an optical illusion. Snapped from 4000 feet above Santa Barbara on E. Camino Cielo Rd. #Sunset #LaCumbrePeak #SantaBarbara. #Photography

Oh hell yes.
In terms of US politics, Bush v. Gore is the defining event of the century. It set the template: a ruthless right that instinctively seeks power & doesn't give a shit about rule of law...and a bunch of hapless, feckless octogenarian Dems worried about the good opinion of centrist opinion columnists.
The 25th anniversary of Bush v Gore is today. The conspiracy mongering & corruption of the GOP has been brewing for a long time.

Roberts, Barrett and Kavanaugh were all on Bush's legal team, where they pushed unfounded legal theories. SC justices were already enmeshed in voter fraud myths.

The Supreme Court will rule for Republicans in those cases (Callais, NRSC)—that train has left the station.

The only way to stop indefinite minority rule is to elect a President and 51 Senators who will:
*end the filibuster
*pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act
*expand SCOTUS and enact term limits
People are worried about Trump not leaving office in 2029 but they should be more worried about the Supreme Court enabling perpetual Republican rule by overturning what remains of the Voting Rights Act and campaign finance laws. SCOTUS has those cases this term.
25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

This is the key issue. DOGE's mission was to destroy and distract while illegally data-mining the federal government. And some people wonder why we call it rape culture.
In March 2020, I predicted that mail-in voting would be the defining issue.

I spent 2022 warning about rightwing voter challenges.

In 2024, the GOP was preparing to block certification if Trump lost.

In 2026, it will be DOJ use of voter data to undermine state election administration.

Rain finally backs off today, but the rivers stay in meltdown mode. A weekend system is already loading more moisture into the chamber. The flooding that is occurring is a dangerous situation, so be safe out there. #Weather #WAWX #SeattleWX

I can't let this go. This is toxic bullshit. These fuckers will do anything to avoid paying for human expertise. It doesn't matter that their products and customer service are shit, they hate carrying a payroll, and want a magic genie to do the work in place of human employees.
In every company there are hundreds of things you can't afford to hire people to do. Tedious, voluminous work that has mistakes that are often expensive. Going forward companies will hire new college grads who can do Agentic AI, which will soon be all of them , to write agents to do these jobs

"In every company there are hundreds of things you can't afford to hire people to do." lol so cute, that is code for "We wealthy techbro psychopaths hate humans and really hate we can't have slave labor." Fucking dipshits, always wanting bailouts, subsidies, and free labor.

Thank you Senator Murray!
Trump has pardoned huge amounts of fraud and truly heinous crimes.

In particular, he's pardoned more corrupt elected officials than any other President, and it's not particularly close.

This President is a crook through and through.
