A gamedev approach I believe in strongly is to stay ignorant and avoid playing games of similar genre to one you're making. On the other hand I heavily use reference when doing game design work.

Wish I knew lawyers familiar with employment law. Because this is the second time a company is doing shady shit to me, and I'm not sure if there is anything I can actually do about it, within a reasonable timeframe.

Today is World AIDS Day. I only worked directly with people living with HIV for a year, but it was one of the most meaningful jobs I ever had. HIV devastated a generation of queer people in America, and I think it's worth remembering what that loss was like.

This whole thread is great. One of my projects is currently tackling tech debt. It really is a whole ordeal, but I'm glad it is being addressed.
With tech debt you build systems that are flawed but work at the time. Usually due to time constraints or direction changes- either from short sighted planning, creative fluidity or just the need to deliver a milestone on time.

If you rush into production, it may cost you FAR MORE MONEY due to rapidly accumulated tech debt.
This is also the reason you want well seasoned veterans in your preproduction and early production phase, NOT juniors.

Mock ups, prototypes, hacks, documents, loose sketches.

There's a lot of UI things that could be better, but personally, I want names to be different colors in chat.
I know it is achievable with mods, but I want that feature vanilla. Chat is *so hard to read* when everything is the same color. Names being different colors helps make chat readable.
