Ghoat of future - Derrida. The future as unknowable - we never learn what is outside the wall: is it recurrence or resolution? And The Wall is haunted by Syd Barrett - the ultimate Derridean signifier: a man whose absence enabled and structures the band’s presence.

These keyboard warriors feel like they've been brought up on a diet of Daily Mail headlines and Sun editorials. The very idea of trying to help others is impugned as hypocrisy because, um, you aren't helping everyone, and you're not helping them, and they're so very, very angry

Received numerous emails inviting me to an "exclusive" educational trip toOxford and Cambridge. I reply: "the flyers say nothing about costs. I am in China and flying to the UK and spending a week in Oxford and Cambridge sounds expensive. It might be useful if the invite addressed this point."
