American Psycho is far more misandrist than misogynist

Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

This bloke has down perfectly the train ticket sales staff in #China. It’s hilariously accurate. His name is Paul Mike Ashton.

We need some pieces on whether the ‘AI bubble’ bubble will burst before the AI bubble itself

Thinking of writing an essay on American Beauty. Wondering what is the general consensus on it. How do you feel about it?

Ghoat of future - Derrida. The future as unknowable - we never learn what is outside the wall: is it recurrence or resolution? And The Wall is haunted by Syd Barrett - the ultimate Derridean signifier: a man whose absence enabled and structures the band’s presence.

Ghost of present - Marx. The rock star as alienated worker, his shows an empty spectacle

Ghost of Past - Freud. Pink is traumatised by his dead father, oppressive mother, bullying teacher, and unfaithful wife

Each of them is a ghost vistiting Pink. Just like in A Christmas Carol, they represent his past, present and future, before there is a final judgement

This just came up in my Facebook memories - my music collection in 1992, aged 13. I was definitely the coolest kid in my school. Or the most like Beavis and Butthead. Same thing, really.

Anyway, it was doubtless a mistake to read the comments. But there they are. There's so many of them out there.

These keyboard warriors feel like they've been brought up on a diet of Daily Mail headlines and Sun editorials. The very idea of trying to help others is impugned as hypocrisy because, um, you aren't helping everyone, and you're not helping them, and they're so very, very angry

I sometimes wonder who are these people, who seem so angry and righteous and utterly misguided, who are so rich in whataboutisms and false equivalence and so poor in empathy and human imagination.

Yeah but you see, it's "highly exclusive".

Response: £5200 per person. Excluding air fares.

Received numerous emails inviting me to an "exclusive" educational trip toOxford and Cambridge. I reply: "the flyers say nothing about costs. I am in China and flying to the UK and spending a week in Oxford and Cambridge sounds expensive. It might be useful if the invite addressed this point."
