How does a draft-dodging, bone-spurred, coward have the audacity to attend a Salute to Service ran away when his name was called to serve and sped away in a limousine instead?

Then called them all suckers and losers, for not being a pussy like him.

F him and the Commanders.

Lotta good back and forth in the various strains of this thread about Jay Jacobs, but I really just want to focus on Brian's last line here. Nassau County Dems - Suozzi, Gillen, Jacobs - all spent more time melting down over Mamdani than boosting their own candidates. It's a huge failure.
Nassau Dem. I knew there was an election for County Executive. I knew I wanted Blakeman out.

I had no idea who was running against him until I searched it

Only AFTER that did I start to see any ads for Koslow.

My congressman Suozzi spent more time denouncing Mamdani than supporting Koslow.
And apparently the turnout was really low, while Blakeman has gone full MAGA. It's a disgrace.

Does he jump on my chair just for the skritches, or does he tolerate the skritches just to have my chair?
Don't care because, either way, skritches!
Any belief system worth more than a whisper, needs at least one fundamentalist worth listening to.

Democratic party leadership has been on autopilot for ten years, they weren't losing to fascism, fascism isn't popular enough for them to lose to fascism, they were allowing it to fill the void where their leadership should have been. Tonight we're seeing that we have other options. They should too.

My god this is for real one of the most incredible speeches I’ve ever seen by an elected US politician: ‘And if there is any way to terrify a despot, it is to dismantle the very conditions that allowed him to accumulate power. This not only how we stop Trump, it’s how we stop the next one.’
Mamdani: "We can respond to oligarchy and authoritarianism with the strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves. After all, if anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him."

I am an optimist. Because even the darkest times eventually pass.

Tonight was fueled by optimists, and pessimists.

A party with -26 approval did this.

I am an optimist whether there is evidence for hope or not. But nights like tonight fuel me.

Thank you fellow travelers!

for a muslim american to become mayor of new york city on the same day that dick cheney died...

sometimes the purple prose for future dadbook histories of The American Experiment just writes itself.

“I wish Andrew Cuomo only the best in private life”

At this point, anyone—a university, a law firm, a corporation, a Democrat—bending the knee to Trump is doing it because they want to, not because of any political reality.
It's more obvious than ever that if we want to get money out of politics, we need to get it out of the Democratic party first. Until then, we can ever have any hope that they'll put the people first.
Mamdani's policies are ambitious, but they are so far from radical I don't even know what to say.

He's winning back young voters that the geriatric Dems can't reach, and instead of harnessing all that energy, they undermine it.

Maybe the whole party just needs to implode already.
There's a duty between artists of different influences, to push forward what we believe to be most true.

A spectrum, but true to experience.

Deferring to LLMs, feels like compromise.

But if they inevitably have mainstream appeal, we ignore that power at our own peril.

I hope I'm wrong.
I can't explain evil or moron, but it's crazy how much is revealed by the desperate endorsements of Cuomo by the entire right wing apparatus.

They show the whole fucking game with this.

ok sure. you hate andrew cuomo because he’s an unlikable slimy creepazoid with an adversarial relationship to the people he would govern…..but what if i told you a bunch of other slimy creeps with identical worldviews said to vote for him. does that change your mind
We do this regularly, can obviously substitute a jar of salsa if you don't have the fresh veggies.

After enchiladas, we often turn half of this into chicken salad, just add some yogurt, lemon juice and chopped celery.

Every single play over the last 30 minutes of this game has had the same vibe as the "two people wrestling for a gun and then it fires and you don't know who was shot" movie trope.

For New Yorkers who work the night shift, it can be nearly impossible to participate in political life of our city.

So tonight we’re bringing this campaign to them — starting with taxi drivers waiting at LaGuardia.
It's myopic to think otherwise.
