DJ on The K was very, very open about why "Song to Woody" is their favorite Bob Dylan song: "The song is the exact length of the amount of time it takes me to scrape my car in the morning, so I just love that song."

Deadwood prequel whe...? Oh, nevermind. Thank you!
Just a reminder that there's a Will Shakespeare miniseries from the heyday of BBC historicals starring Tim Curry as Shakespeare and Ian McShane as Marlowe, and it's on youtube:

I first posted this at 10pm on Friday, but to provide a more serious explanation of what I’m doing here:

I've officially gone into business for myself. After being fired for my choice of pro bono cases 3 months ago, I’ve been doing a few stray cases, but it's time to make things formal.

Aquarium Drunkard's Year in Review 2025 is out. For years, @aquariumdrunkard.com put out my favorite year-end music list and this year I had the privilege of contributing to it! Read the whole thing because there's so much 2025 music waiting to be discovered.

Aquarium Drunkard :: Year In Review 2025 - Aquarium Drunkard
Looking back to look ahead. The clock never stops, but sometimes music manages the impossible: slowing time for a moment. Our list arrives in the spirit of sharing, and we’re back with our annual Year...

Thank you to everyone who came by my ‘Movement Art for Mutual Aid’ table at the Southside Shtetl to pick up a screen print!

In a single night, we helped raise $2,000+ for local advocacy organizations, legal aid groups, and mutual aid projects that are assisting our immigrant community in Minnesota!

One thing I *love* about the buyers, above the way they're able to spot trends and fads way ahead of the curve or their maniacal commitment to value and quality is, on items like gold bars, they shrug and say, "Well, there's a sucker born every minute. They might as well spend that money here."
Oh, in case you were wondering if the people who buy the bodega bars of gold aren’t (each in their own way) just a bunch of the oddest oddballs, yesterday, a guy *didn’t* buy one because the price had gone up 50 bucks between when he checked the price online and came into the store.

Early signs are this is going to be one of those winters we get a quiet and sneaky couple of fluffy inches every other day until, come February, we all find ourselves snowed into our houses, wondering when the heck these six feet fell.

Had an employee holiday event after close. Employees could come in with their family; there was face-painting, cookie decorating, a little bit of food, they could shop (in an essentially empty Costco!) and...Santa. Ok, we've had some low-rent Santas, but this Santa was a *pro*. He *was* Santa

I will say, also, that it'll be so nice, someday, to not have a creepy, attention weirdo, hair-touching freak of an FIA president.

Thanks to @mollypeonies.bsky.social, I just realized there’s a whole episode of Little House, the one where Pa and that bearded neighbor are broke (storm ruined crops) and have to transport a wagonload of nitroglycerin across a hilly, bumpy road and it’s just a giant homage/rip off of “Sorcerer”!!!

2025 top movie-going moment: At our showing, towards the end of "Eddington", the screen froze for a good 30 seconds. I figured it was a meta-commentary since the movie itself was "very online". Then, when I talked to anyone who saw it about that genius of that, they looked at me like I was crazy.

“A sergeant from O’Hara’s department later clarified that while Minneapolis Police Department officers may physically intervene in the case of unlawful force, they would stop short of arresting ICE agents.”

If you don’t arrest people for breaking the law, then what are we doing here?
